Who: Eric Hunter and Ariadne Stewart
What: Maleficent comes out to play, and Eric gets a pretty big boo-boo. Oops?
Where: A hospital in San Diego, CA
When: Sunday evening, January 29th, 2012
Warnings: TBD. Probably nothing awful, but you never really know...
A groan woke him up, but he didn't open his eyes. Instead, he just lay there, mind completely blank and body... god, nope, didn't want to think about that yet. He heard another groan. It took a beat, maybe a beat and a half, for him to realize he was the one groaning.
Oh.
Slowly, Eric Hunter cracked his eyes open, squinting into the bright, pure light coming from above him. Was he dead? Had he died? No, that was dumb. His head hurt like a motherfucker, his arms seemed to be throbbing, and his legs felt like jelly. He couldn't say he knew what it felt like to be dead (note to self, he thought vaguely, call Jonathan), but that – yeah, that was totally wrong. Okay. Not dead. That was a good sign, right?
Wrong. Maybe. His eyes were still adjusting so he couldn't really see, but there was nothing wrong with his nose and ears, apparently. He inhaled deeply and regretted it for two reasons: one, a stabbing sensation told him that at least one of his ribs was broken, and two, the room he was in smelled like stale piss. He could also hear a steady stream of beeps and hushed voices, which more or less settled it: Hospital. He was in a hospital. But... where? Why? And jesus christ, how?
He knew better than to try and sit up (he wasn't so keen on puking everywhere, and idly he thought the doctors should definitely give him extra pudding for being extra considerate like that), but he gingerly raised a hand to his head, and regretted that, too. The patch of forehead he tried to touch was covered in bandages, and the smallest amount of pressure hurt like a bitch. "Ow," he said pathetically, then mumbled under his breath to no one in particular, "the hell did I... ?"
