Who: Erma Stone, Lara Meyers.
When: Sunday, December 4.
Where: A coffee shop in Toronto, Canada.
What: Erma took her marching orders very seriously. She's been doing a thorough job of tracking the names Robert gave her, but along the way she picked up on something familiar - a Force presence that Vader knew all too well.
Rating: Probably R for violence and language, but who knows.
Erma didn't look like much. She was slight, blond, and she had a sweet face when she smiled. (She didn't smile often. She rarely felt anything, and when she did, it wasn't pleasant.) People didn't look at her; boys didn't hit on girls who frowned all the time, and she had nothing to interest a straight woman. It was easy to slip off the bus and down the street. She was headed for Lara's place of business; 'bitch, are you crazy' had been the clue she'd needed.
She had not read the rest of the post. She didn't realize that this was likely to be a reunion as well as an interrogation.
Of course, as she neared the coffee shop, Erma began to get a strange tug at the edge of her senses. She knew that feeling. Vader knew that feeling. And, for the first time in a long time, Erma felt something in her gut. She couldn't identify it. Disappointment? Hope? Some strange mixture of both, plus a strain of fear?
She took a breath and squashed her emotions down, stomped on them like she were trying to pack dirt with her feet. Erma would feel nothing; anything else, and she would come out the loser in this confrontation. There would surely be a confrontation. Luke would feel his father just as surely as Vader knew they were closing in on a son.
The door to the shop opened. Erma pulled off her sunglasses.
