WHO: Cassie MacMahon and Lillie White (with guest appearance by ye ol' Lucifer ;) )
WHAT: Research in the Panic Room
WHEN: Nowish
WHERE: Singer Auto. More specifically, the Panic Room inside the house.
WARNINGS: Language. It's the Winchesters.

The Panic Room. Sam's memories of the place were plentiful, and not all of them were exactly pleasant. There was the research, sure, in dire times of Apocalypse fucking Now, but there was also those memories. The memories of being locked in there while coming down from one of many demon blood highs, right before he let out...

Lucifer.

"Shut up," Cassie mumbled to herself, fingers to her forehead as she tried to focus on the book in front of her. The words were starting to mold together, the old English translations of original Latin as undecipherable to her as the Latin itself. Sam was able to process it all a lot better than she was, but he wasn't holding out much hope for figuring what was going on in any of the books. Even when Lucifer was mentioned it was all a bunch of holy mumbo jumbo without any actual substance. Not to mention he was convinced it wasn't supernatural in origin.

My wall came down, Cassie. He might not be real.

"I'm not crazy," Cassie said adamantly, slamming the book shut and tossing it onto the pile of already discarded ones with more force than was necessary. "Nothing. Another hour of book prowling for nothing. Tell me you found something, or I'm leaving and looking elsewhere."

"Well, I got nothin'," his voice came from an empty space on the Panic Room's desk. His legs swung like a child's would and he, too, nonchalantly tossed a book over into the pile. Gregory Delano, known to Cassie only as Lucifer, crossed his arms and made a face. "You know, if you ask me, this is just one big dead end."

The grin he wore knew no bounds whatsoever and seemed to surpass even his face. To everyone else, he appeared not to exist, but to Cassie? That was another story entirely. She would see him. In a way, she wouldn't really stop. Things may have been different in this life, but Gregory was more than prepared for anything. Now he wasn't a hallucination attached to Sam's psyche, but truly there in his own special way. Being The Devil did have its perks, after all.

"But leaving wouldn't be a bad idea." He wrinkled his nose and glanced around the room. "It's a little stuffy in here. And there's something offputting about all these .. symbols."

"Nope. Definitely not crazy!" Lillie tried to sound perky and helpful from her perch on the bed – which was pretty odd, to say the least. She was lying on her back with her knees in the air and her head hanging over the frame, reading the latest in a series of unhelpful books upside down. Or maybe it was right side up, and that's why it was unhelpful. Lillie couldn't really tell anymore. It had been hours and hours of nothing but books, books, and more books, and if she'd had any focus? She'd lost it a long time ago. Which wasn't really helping Cassie, but she was trying. Boy, was she trying.

And failing. But she couldn't tell Cassie that.

Sitting up abruptly, Lillie sighed and readjusted her position, sitting cross-legged now, which was marginally more conducive to research, since the blood was no longer rushing to her head. She cast the one book aside and grabbed another, opening up a random page and trying to give Cassie a pep talk as she attempted to keep reading. (Multitasking now. Yay.) "You're not going anywhere, Haley Joel. Just pick another book, okay? We don't have that many left, and it's gotta be here somewhere..."

Or she's just crazy.

"Shut up."

"And what if it's not? What if there's no answers in these--" Cassie's sentence cut off abruptly as her eyes snapped over to where Greg sat perched on the desk. Icy dread plunged into her stomach; was he there, or was this another trick? She couldn't exactly take the chance that it was a hallucination.

Her initial reaction was to run, her pint-sized body making an impressive impact on the chair she was sitting at as it slammed backwards to the floor in her scramble for her footing. She needed a quick plan. Lucifer was in the path to the doorway, but they couldn't just sit there.

"Lillie, we gotta go. We gotta run. Come on!"

Cassie was already scrambling for her gun, pulling the sawed-off from its secret compartment under the bed. She aimed and pulled the trigger, sending a spray of rock salt in Greg's direction. "Get away from us!"

But as the gun fired, Greg already vanished from his perch. "Now, Cassie," he said abruptly, standing behind the girl now. "There's really no need to get violent." He brushed off his shoulders, placing his hands on his hips then like a disappointed father figure. "After all, what'll Lillie think?"

He turned his head, taking a glance at the other girl, then frowned. "Probably not much." Dean Winchester. Never the brightest bulb, no matter the life.

Did he have a reason for coming? Of course he did. Gregory Delano had a reason for everything that he did. But to see her squirm like this? To see Sam squirm like this? Well, how could he resist? The fun was just beginning, after all. And he did so like to savor these moments.
