Who. Annabel Tavern and Tyler Rhone
What. Annabel does a little trolling of our resident Haley Joel
Where. Cardiff, Wales
When. Monday afternoon, July 18 2011
Warnings. None
For all that Tyler Rhone had prided himself in being completely in tune with the paranormal, it had apparently escaped his knowledge that a ghost had been following him around for the past month or so. And quite stealthily despite the fact that reincarnates of the television show LOST seemed to be able to see and hear her. Annabel had solved that first problem pretty easily though. The guy had talent but wasn't all that bright.
"Sorry for your loss." Tyler uttered the same flat toned, automatic response that he always did as he descended the stairs of his latest client.
"Really, that's it?" Annabel instantly appeared at Tyler's side though the minute he turned around she disappeared again, reappearing on his left and glaring at the back of his head. "That's all you have to say? Go back in there and talk to them!"
"What the fu-" This had been happening to Tyler all week. A voice in his ears that he could never pin point a face to. It was different then the voices he heard when he actually utilized Miles' gift to communicate with the deceased. It was more of a far off voice, an echo even, a retelling of the body's last breaths. This voice was loud and clear, it wasn't some kind of message on an answering machine. It was an actual ghost on his trail. But just like every other time this happened, the second he turned around nobody was there, so after a few minutes of confused staring he always turned around and went on his way.
Unfortunately for Tyler, Annabel Tavern wasn't that easily deterred.
"Well gee, with that attitude no wonder you never get any tips, Mister Sensitivity. Ever heard the expression going above and beyond the call?" Annabel had reappeared behind him and contented herself with matching his fast forward pace to get right on his heels, disappearing again the second he turned to try and catch a glimpse. When he turned back around in a huff and kept walking, she reappeared to keep in step with the back of his heels. "... No, of course you haven't."
It wasn't that Annabel disliked Tyler, even if the way he seemed to be able to communicate with the dead unsettled her and Annie to a self righteous degree. She actually liked him quite a bit, and once in a great while since she'd been following him she actually caught a glimpse of something genuine when he was on the job. So it only frustrated her even more to see him just going through the motions. Didn't he realize what an amazing gift he had? The kind of opportunities and second chances he could be giving other people? Sadly, no, but this was Tyler Rhone we were talking about. He wouldn't recognize something amazing in his life if it punched him in the face. (And a few definitely have.)
And so it continued. Annabel trolled Tyler down a few blocks and all the way to the MTN, continuing to rave and rant in his ear about how thick in the head he was and disappearing every time he turned around to try and get a peek. Every other human passerby on the street couldn't see the bouncy haired brunette following close behind him and chattering so it was only Tyler's ever deepening frown that could have been called attention to. Really, she just wanted to make him better. Maybe she was going about it the wrong way, but at least it seemed to be getting a reaction out of him...
It was only when they finally reached the MTN and Annabel called him something along the lines of a 'Low brow, waste of supernatural energy' that Tyler had finally had enough, turning around on the spot and shouting. "WOULD YOU JUST SHUT UP?"
Annabel didn't bother disappearing this time, so for the first time since the mysterious (and chatty) ghost had started tracking him Tyler came face to face with her and blinked in surprise. Annabel just glared, attempting to stare him down as she tried her best to look intimidating while she leaned forward with her hands on her hips. "What're you gonna do? Exorcise me? Prick."
Then she disappeared, and everyone around Tyler was looking at him like he was nuts.
Great.
