Who: Lorraine Cross and Brooke Kenworthy
What: Some long overdue 'mother/daughter' bonding.
When: 7/17/11, afternoon
Where: Lincoln Center in NYC
It had been months now since Lorraine had found out that Brooke, who she had known since the latter was a small child, was the reincarnate of Meg. The Madame's Meg. Her Meg. Thinking back on it, perhaps it should've been more obvious. She had always felt more protective of Brooke than she had of Alyssa, almost as protective as she was of her own daughter. But she had always reasoned that this was because Brooke was so timid whereas Alyssa was so...brash. Now it seemed perhaps that something deep inside of her had realized the truth long before it became apparent.
Things had been rather chaotic with the company as of late, however, as it always was right before and during a performance run. The occasions where she could've gotten Brooke alone to talk were few and far in between, and she didn't know the location of the younger woman's new apartment. Yes, she just could've asked her mother, but she wanted to avoid any extra awkward conversation if she could help it. She had a feeling that the eventual conversation with Brooke would be awkward enough.
So when she was walking through the studio on Sunday afternoon, having come from speaking to the director, and spotted Brooke working at the barre, she paused. A quick glance around confirmed that they were indeed alone and she exhaled silently, realizing it was now or ever.
"I didn't expect to see anyone here on a Sunday," Lorraine remarked by way of greeting, a soft smile on her face as she approached Brooke. "Usually the studio's completely empty."
