Who. Colin Ford and Reese Greyson What. Colin's finally ready to leave the hospital, but not ready to go public with his recovery yet Where. Reese's place in London, England When. Wednesday night, June 22nd, 2011 Warnings. TBD?
After a very long month and some odd weeks that to Colin felt like a year, he had finally been released from the hospital. The doctor's couldn't figure it out, but Colin Ford was making one of the quickest recovery times they'd ever seen in a coma patient. Then again, there were coma patients all around the world that responded positively to treatment immediately after waking up, but Colin knew it was more then that for him. No matter the case, he was grateful. Within a few weeks and some intense physical therapy he was able to get out of bed and move around (with a lot of help, but still), and two days ago the doctors had given him the good news that he could go home. Or at least, it was meant to be good news.
Ryan had died. One of Colin's closest friends and a man he had looked up to almost in the same way as Dick had looked up to Bruce, he'd been murdered just shortly before Colin had woken up. He had found out a week later when the new deputy Simon Undleman had come to the hospital to visit him, and Colin couldn't help feeling a mad rush of guilt. If he had still been deputy, if he hadn't gotten in an accident that had left him in a coma for four months, maybe he could have prevented this. Of course logic told him that he was being ridiculous, even if he hadn't had that accident he still wouldn't have been able to stop Ryan from getting kidnapped. He wasn't with his friend every second of the day, and he knew that putting that kind of pressure on himself was unrealistic. He couldn't help it, it was the Robin in him. Always had to save everyone, as much as Dick tried to deny it they were exactly like Batman in that way. Goddamn hero complexes.
Then of course there was this mysterious 'sickness' that had been floating around the reincarnate community in the past week or so. Colin hadn't needed anyone to tell him about that, after all he'd been in the hospital. In less then a day on the first day the sickness had begun the hospital had begun to overflow with sick and dying patients. They'd had to move Colin onto another floor and into a private room in order to avoid any sort of infection while he was still recovering, while they'd had to double and triple up rooms on every other floor in order to accommodate the sudden influx of patients. Hospitals were depressing enough as it was, but Colin had never wanted to get out of there more as he had this past week. His one saving grace, his light at the end of the very dreary tunnel, had been Reese.
Reese had still come to visit him nearly every day after he'd woken up, and even though he always looked forward to the visits he'd gotten from family, former co-workers and friends, he looked forward to Reese's visits the most. They just talked, mostly. Sometimes there was the brushing of hands and meaningful eye contact that was never spoken aloud, it didn't need to be, but mostly they just talked. About anything and everything, and when the doctors finally told Colin he was well enough that he could go home if he wanted, he realized that home was exactly where he didn't want to go. It may have been almost five months since the accident but for Colin, losing Juliet might as well have just happened yesterday. And it really had for him, because the idea of going back to their flat was still too painful of a notion to bear. Not to mention he was still technically in recovery and he'd need more help then just the occasional visit, so Reese had offered to take him.
At first Colin had felt a little weird about it, even though he knew Reese was the one who had suggested it he didn't want to impose. Still, he accepted, and now that he was here he was beyond grateful that he had. As much as he loved everyone else in his life, the more he thought about it he knew that the only person he really wanted to spend all his time with right now was Reese. As scary of a notion as that still was. It was getting a little less scary by the minute though, the more time Colin spent on Reese's insanely comfortable couch. They'd only gotten here a few hours ago and from the minute they'd arrived and Reese had helped Colin to it, Colin had immediately fallen into one of the deepest sleeps he'd had since his recovery started. Now he was waking up again, looking around blearily as he craned his neck and started to sit up as he took in the foreign surroundings. "... I don't think we're in Kansas anymore, Toto..."
