Who: Caitlin Holloway and Nikolai Peterson. What: Meeting up for coffee. Where: Some random coffee place in Vermont When: Monday morning, 6th June, 2011 Warnings: Possible cuteness. Possible vomiting. Who knows where this could go?
Why had he insisted? Why did he feel the need to be the person travelling across country for a coffee? That was the question currently plaguing Nikolai's mind. He had never been exactly what you'd describe as confident when meeting new people at the best of times, but going to meet Caitlin had so much more tied up in it. She was new, and she wasn't new. She was also a girl. Piotr's expectations of Kitty made it worse. It wasn't like he was going in with a blank slate, either for himself or her, and so there was the pressure of living up to his other half. His better half. And then he'd gone and decided that chivalry meant travelling across country himself via a transport method he hadn't tried out before.
Right now, he was incredibly nauseous.
Calm yourself, tovarisch. The worst you can do is make a fool of yourself. Yes. He was one to talk. It wasn't exactly like Piotr was coming and doing this himself in his incredibly muscled body. Or smoothly requesting to use Caitlin as a life model for painting. No. It was Nikolai that had to go in there and live up to the reputation of Colossus. Something he had little hope of achieving given his complete spazz at people on his new journal. He sullenly stuffed a hand into his pocket, his fingers playing at the scrunched up paper he had shoved in there earlier. A job offer that he was considering taking...if he could get a handle on his nerves.
No matter, he had reached the coffee place. She was either in there, or he'd have to wait for her. Either way, he hoped that he'd recognise her immediately. He didn't want it to be another of those awkward moments where you're stood gazing around a room trying to locate a friend who turns out to be right in front of you. A quick scan of the seating told him that either she wasn't there, or he had managed do exactly what he hoped he wouldn't. Quickly, to avoid more embarrassment, he took a seat in the corner to wait.
