Who: Frost and Annie Greyson
What: A little sub-security training before breakfast.
Where: Frost's apartment in Toronto; later, Frost's mind.
When: Saturday morning, June 4th, 2011.
Warnings: TBD?
This wasn't the first time Frost had trained with Annie, nor would it be the last. If Frost was anything, it was overcautious. Meticulous. A control freak, if you will. Before they could start training Daniel Morgan, Frost had to make sure that Annie was readt – that, before they could test him, Annie could pass the tests herself. Frost was confident. Annie hadn't disappointed her yet. Much like Ariadne, Annie was a fast learner, and both Frost and Cobb couldn't help but feel a little proud of that. A mind without limits, and an eager mind at that, was exactly what they needed for this kind of job. For every kind of job, actually. If Annie wasn't the best already? She would be soon. Frost was absolutely sure of that, just as she was sure Annie could overcome the challenge the extractor was about to give her. It wouldn't be easy, but it would be worth it in the end. For both of them.
"Today we're going to do something a little different," Frost began as soon as Annie arrived. Her tidy and practically Spartan living room was already set up for their purposes, the couch for Annie and the Eames lounge chair for Frost positioned on either side of a coffee table, where the PASIV lay open and waiting. Frost sat down and started setting the clock. "You'll be the subject; I'll be the dreamer, the architect, and the extractor. All three."
A small glance up to Annie revealed that Frost was hiding something; thankfully, it was nothing life-threatening, just personal. Frost hadn't pulled this kind of exercise in years, but if she was nervous about it, she kept it to herself. "The layout of the dream will be mine, but I'm giving you part of it." She nodded to a piece of paper folded neatly on the couch. "But I don't know which part. I chose it at random, because I want you to use it against me. I want you to think of a secret – big or small, doesn't matter – hide it away, trick me, and do whatever it takes to keep me from finding it. Got it?"
