This wasn't technically the first time Veronica and Travis had met, but this was the first time they'd met with complete self-awareness. The first time Jeremy and Vicki had taken the reigns to arrange a meeting, and Veronica only had patches in her memory to give her any proof that that had actually happened. That, and Vicki had told her, but even so. It was weird to have the reincarnate of Jeremy here. Not bad weird, just... weird. For once in her life Veronica wasn't sure how to act around someone, and usually she just didn't care. If she spent all her time caring what people thought about her she'd have staked herself by now, she knew outside of the Agency there weren't too many people that liked her. Back home she'd developed quite a reputation for herself nearly identical to Vicki's, long before she even became a vampire. She was used to being judged, but because Travis was the reincarnate of Jeremy Gilbert, Veronica desperately didn't want him to judge her. It really would kill her.
She'd actually been the one to finally bite the bullet and call Travis to get drunk tonight. She hadn't even known it was his birthday, she'd just seriously needed to drink with someone and take her mind off things before she did something insanely stupid like bite someone else. After her brother's murder and now what was happening with the Agency, after getting Director Macintosh's heart in the mail Veronica just needed a break. Travis seemed to need a break too because much to her relief, he was quick to accept the invitation and that's how she ended up at his place Tuesday night.
"Hey Travis, help a vamp out and get me another beer while you're up?" Veronica called after him, clearly already beyond inebriated as she lay sprawled out on his couch, nearly falling off of it as she tried to crane her head over the side of it to see where he was going. "Whoops!" She giggled to herself, rolling back over to secure herself. "Close call..."
