Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Future!Lin and Present!Kai
When: 1892.
Where: Springfield, Massachusetts. Naismith's YMCA.
What: So Lin's not really that into sport, but he's a sucker for people running about and enjoying themselves. Kai stumbles across an old friend with a new face. Wackiness (and a lot of lying and evasion) ensues.

The rules of basketball had changed a bit over the years, and Lin couldn't always be bothered to remember if you could or could not run with the ball, or if you were meant to shove the other blokes. Was this the sport with the helmet and padding? Lin didn't much like contact sports, so he didn't shove, but he did strap on ridiculous knee pads and a helmet that properly belonged to American football players of a different age. It slowed him down, but he was playing enthusiastically.

Naismith was nowhere about. He'd thrown up his hands ten minutes ago and had gone off, presumably to refine the rules. Or to call security. Lin wasn't concerned. He'd been in tighter spots before.

He was immensely pleased with himself. He was playing basketball! With proper old-timey players! And none of them really seemed to understand the rules, anyhow - only one bloke had scored a basket.
