WHO: Mikhail Sokolski and Kal Peters
WHAT: Mikhail has finally had enough of his uncle, and goes to the one person he can always trust: his captain.
WHEN: Today
WHERE: Kal's house
WARNINGS: Mentions of abuse, possible swearing.
As far as taxi rides went, Mikhail was sure that this was the longest and most painful taxi ride in existence. The driver had been leery of taking Mikhail anywhere at first, but once Mikhail had proved to him that he wasn't some kid playing a prank and really did have cash, he'd been more then happy to take the teenage boy where he wanted to go. Of course, he'd also been more then happy to blast his radio the whole way there, causing Mikhail's already aching head to start throbbing to the tempo of the head splitting heavy metal and rock songs. And on top of that, Mikhail was anxious, to put things mildly. His shoulders were tense and his stomach was alternating between threatening to spill its contents and knotting itself into complex twists that would have impressed any sailor.
When he arrived at the address that Mikhail had scribbled down on the back half of a receipt, he was stunned. This was where Kal - the reincarnation of Captain James T. Kirk - lived? This two story house that looked almost... Cute? But when he double checked, he knew that he was right. This had to be the place. Even if it wasn't the right place, he was down to his last few dollars - he wouldn't have been able to go anywhere else anyways. Shoving the cash into the cabbie's hand, he grabbed his backpack and duffle bag and clambered out, kicking the door behind him. He listened to the taxi speed off as he crossed the lawn, eying the door carefully, like it might try and bite him if he got too close. But it's not like he had any other choice then to come here. There was no one else Mikhail could have turned to right now, and she had offered to help him before. He just hoped she wouldn't rescind the offer, and that he wouldn't get the both of them in trouble for coming here after what happened with Charles.
After taking a deep breath, he pounded on the door. When it opened, he gave Kal a small smile. It was no easy feat, considering the impressive looking bruise that was blossoming on the left side of his swollen face. He looked a mess, and he knew it.
"Hey, Kal. Long time no see?"
