It had been completely out of the blue, and yet she couldn’t at all be made to care. Once his lips pressed to hers, everything else fell away and nothing else matter. Her dream seemed like it was coming true after the very long time that she’d waited and hoped for it. It was literally perfect in her mind, and though she never wanted it to end, she did need to know if it was just her imagination playing tricks. If it had been, surely she would have snapped out of it the second that their lips parted. But things were staying much the same. Mouse paid intent attention as he spoke and his words made her heart do somersaults in her chest. He cared about her in much the same way, if not the very same way, that she cared about him. She honestly could have died happy in that one moment, but she was more than glad to be right there with him as he pulled her back in. They didn’t need to talk right then. Not when there was a chance to savor something so new and for a little longer.
She didn’t protest as he pulled her back in, bringing her close as he leaned back into the trunk of the tree. His lips were back on hers. It was slower this time, but that made it even better, even. There wasn’t any rush. She could thoroughly savor the sensation as she kissed him back. Her mind was quickly settling into a perfect contentment. At that point, she could have easily kept kissing him until the end of time and had absolutely no problem with it at all. But that was how it went when you were in love. And now she knew that first hand.
