“Falling out of trees during planting season? Obviously they are off their little rockers. If only they had the same sensibilities you do then this whole situation could have been avoided!” Her voice was a bit teasing as she spoke and she couldn’t help but laugh as she poked fun at Grey at bit. It was just how their relationship worked...how it always had worked, even when they were younger. Back then, her adoration of him had been much more innocent. It was more like tagging along after who she thought was the coolest person in the whole wide world. She still thought that he was the most amazing person that she knew, but the rest of her feelings had changed as she’d gotten older. It had been so easy back then with Grey, English, Yeates and her just hanging around. Now that the other two were gone, things were different. She missed them, definitely. And she also missed having a buffer between her and Grey to keep from being a total idiot and messing things up.
She mentally scolded herself again for looking at him too much. It wasn’t helping. Not at all. She didn’t notice the way his eyes lingered on her lips, really. And she most definitely hadn’t been expecting it when he leaned closer and kissed her. It was just so sudden. Her mind was racing in a million different directions as she felt his hand slip into her hair and his hand at the small of her back. But most importantly...he was kissing her! Mouse half-way wondered if she was having a very elaborate daydream. And even if she was, she was going to enjoy it for however long it lasted. Her arms came up, slipping over his shoulders as they wrapped around his neck. She kissed him back, finding that the sensation of his lips on hers was even better than she had ever imagined. She didn’t want to question it because it was, quite simply, perfect.
Though...after a few long moments, she pulled back from the kiss, looking into his eyes. Those eyes that she’d long since fallen in love with. “...did that actually just happen, or am I dreaming?” she had to ask. Because if it wasn’t a daydream, then that meant that Grey had actually wanted to kiss her.
