Mac still wasn't believing her eyes. But when "the ghost" of Lawliss turned and embraced her, she eventually realized just how real he was. She was reminded of how strong he was when she felt her feet leave the ground in his hug.
"I just can't believe it. You made it out. You listened and made it out. And you didn't even think of sending a post-card, you jack-ass?!" Mac joked as she playfully smacked his arm. "I've been all over the place since I left Sundance. I actually just got to this town last week. And what about you? How long have you been here? Did Junk leave with you after I sent you that warning? I wasn't even sure you had gotten it, I never heard back once the war started."
Mac was still looking at her old friend as if he was a figment of her imagination. She'd had so many nightmares about his demise, but she never dreamed she would find him alive.
