Characters: Hugo Weasley & Elfreda Selwyn
Setting: 21 December, Leaky Cauldron rubble, around half noon
Rating: GP
Summary: Hugo Weasley arrives on scene as a first responder and really finding his dead uncle was just the tip of the iceberg, but he has a job to do.
Amidst the chaos he could still see it. Harry Potter’s broken and bruised body pinned under a beam. Try as he might to push it to the back of his memory, it kept pushing forward along with the bile rising in his stomach. It was probably a good thing he hadn’t eaten anything since before his shift this morning. And the irony was that because he didn’t go to lunch he was in the first team to arrive. All that had been told was to prepare for a mass causality event and that they would be putting their recently learned triage skills to use.
More than anything he needed to be a healer and not a person right then. As Hugo Weasley his uncle was dead and his world was shattered, but as Healer Weasley he had dozens of potential patients who needed him if they wanted to live to see another day. (Although how anyone would be able to get beyond this day whole was currently beyond him.) Hugo tried to push himself down into automatic, reacting where he needed to, but trying to not give any one bit too much thought. Over thinking this situation would do him any good.
Too much thought and he saw those limbs akimbo and the sobbing faces as they moved Harry off the scene. Or worse he imagined any of the rest of his family falling to pieces later. And later that was the operative word. Right now he had a job to do.
Hugo handed off his most recent patient and readjusted his medkit. The scene was still far too chaotic. Even with emergency crews all over the place it was pure panic. The only calm and logic were the handful of healers and personnel, himself barely included, who were trying to sort through the rubble and clear the air. Still, he knew he wasn’t going to be able to last much longer here, every badly injured body sent him back to where he was trying not to think of and needed to remain useful.
He started back into the fray once more after another call for support. Lime green robes covered in soot, dirt and blood he surely made quite the sight, but for now that wasn’t for him to worry about. Just keep moving and with any luck he would come across a case that warranted him to personally escort the patient back to the hospital.
