Who: Lucas and Theo
What: Mean Girls
When: Thursday evening
Where: Theo's abode
Boredom. It was so terribly chronic that Theo knew eventually, meaning soon, he was going to have to find a job. Something to replace such wasted time with some form of activity that didn’t involve bar hopping, mindless pranks, and watching re-runs of American cartoons. Living erratically, exclusively erratically, hadn’t posed to be much of a conundrum because he had other responsibilities to engage himself in, namely school. Now that he finished college and was living comfortably in New York, it was as if life had very little incentive. But every time he told himself he’d look for a job, it was always prolonged for some petty reason. He sprawled over his bed, having moved once again and ranted a bit about it to Lucas because he really didn’t mind the brownstone he was living in. Of course, that wasn’t enough and he had to purchase only the most ornate to fit in with the high societal crowd. According to his mother, anyway. In his early twenties and an entire country away and he was still tied down to her rules. It was completely exasperating.
Reaching over, he grabbed his phone and called Lucas. Once he answered, he cried, “Holy fucking hell shit, Lucas, I need you to come over! It’s an emergency!” His voice poured urgency. “I just—something’s wrong, and, just come over.” He hung up and then snickered because really, the only thing that was wrong was the fact that he had this strange yearning to watch Mean Girls. Standing, he walked into the kitchen and idled around. When he heard a knock on the door, he sauntered over with nothing but flannel pajama bottoms on and a cookie wedged between his teeth. Opening it up, he smiled crookedly. “Oh hweetheart, o lad ooh ee ooh,” he said, the cookie causing his words to come out muffled and nearly unintelligible. Clearly there was no emergency.
