Who: Kate (Rhea) and OPEN
What: Enjoying Spring
Where: Central Park
When: Monday, midday
Rating: TBD, but likely low
The weather was fantastic, and after what Kate had thought for certain would've been a late, and very nasty winter. Usually her gut-feelings on the forecast were spot on, but when the temperatures were in the mid-sixties when she expected forties? No way was she about to complain about being wrong.
The girls were at school and Ben was at work; Kate had set out earlier that morning to fetch a few things for her garden, but simply got side-tracked into watching what looked like an impromptu rehearsal - or perhaps audition - of Shakespeare in the Park. There was no stage, and the costumes were little more than period hats or collars taped around thin windbreakers and hipster glasses, but it had drawn a small crowd. Probably also because of the weather.
Dipping her hand into the pocket of her cardigan, her iPod paused so she could hear a new 'rap' version of Hamlet's lament. The wind washed dark hair across her face; a lover's caress in gentility, even warmth. The air smelled sweet, with a mild felafel flavor from the stand on the corner. Kate closed her eyes - flawed and dirty jade green - and without thinking slipped out of her flats, curling her toes in the cool grass.
The peace was nearly all encompassing, except for a tiny prick of sensation that wasn't tactile. It wasn't any of her normal senses, which wasn't terribly uncommon. She'd always considered herself remarkably intuitive, and listened to her gut when it told her she was being specifically watched.
