Lydia tried not to laugh but it happened anyways, with her lips pressed together tight and her laugh coming out like little musical hums. Hm, hm, hm, hm! He was still very stiff.. or just standing with a perfect posture and acting like he was coming to court her mom with those flowers. Didn't he know how eager she was to meet him? How she believed he really was a god. Unlike Lydia who still thought he was crazy and his mom was just being foolish but hey if she wanted to give away priceless antiques to good lookin' guys who had split personalities that was her problem.
"She's in the back, preparing your ..uh, trident," she set the ukulele aside and hopped off the counter. "I'll take these. Thaaaank you!"
She took the flowers and brushed past him to find a vase to put them in for the time being. There were all sorts of things in that dang store and she couldn't seem to find a worthy vase. Finally she picked a glass one off a wooden dresser and carried it to the front counter.
"Who am I chattin' with, Reed? Neptune? Both? None of the above?"
