Who: Lucia and Melinda,[Ma'at and Isis] When: March 2nd, Friday afternoon Where: At the Hospital What: Lucia comes to the hospital to pick up her grandmother's latest lab results and runs into Melinda.
As far as Dr. Melinda Ashton was concerned, Friday was just like any other day at the hospital. Some of her colleagues would leave early and schedule their appointments accordingly. The unlikely residents, and their supervisors unfortunate enough to get stuck with these shifts, were left to deal with the potential chaos. What a way to spend a lovely afternoon.
While the doctor went over paperwork, the goddess was restless. For reasons that Melinda couldn't fathom. Sometimes she could do that. It was hard for her to separate Isis' feelings from her own. She'd lived with the god-soul for so long, she sometimes started to wonder where one began and the other would end. So perhaps it was that restlessness that brought her down to the diagnostic area to sign some needed paperwork.
It was a mixed blessing working here. Helping people was something she loved to do. She couldn't help but get a joy out of making people well, helping them out even with advice, and maybe helping them along their way in more ways than one. But then there was the flip side. The suffering. The hurt. The pain. It struck her so deeply at times and the fact that she couldn't fix the world irked both the doctor and goddess. She had to remember that sometimes bad things happened to good people. But that was no reason to lose faith.
It was while she chatted with one of the nurses and went over a patient chart that she felt something prickle at the back of her neck. She looked up and it was a moment when she frozen. "Do you mind excusing me?" She said it almost absently as she handed the chart with her notes back to the smiling nurse.
