WHO: Selene and Erebus
WHEN: April 24 | 11pm
WHERE: Central Park
WHAT: Picnic and the Nighttime

Selene carried a small basket full of sandwiches, fruit, and wine. It was a ridiculously simple meal but in truth she wasn't that hungry. She only wanted the company. She adored Thomas and felt protective of him but was very pleased to see that Erebus had finally taken control. Selene missed her fellow Titans. There weren't many around, their numbers were small compared to the other pantheons. She knew that Thomas's suppression of Erebus was a problem, the substances that he was using to repress him were dangerous. Selene was a selfish goddess, she adored Raven and the fun they had but Erebus was someone from home. From the days before the war and the stupid vessels.

Selene work a skirt and a shirt, dressed for a night out at pubs and not for a picnic. She had been planning on going out until she had gotten the message from Erebus. Instead of changing clothes she had gathered a picnic for them and caught the subway across town to Central Park. The moon was waxing crescent, only 13% of full but it hung like a sliver in the dark sky. Surrounded by a thousand tiny stars. She stood at the entrance to the park and stared at the sky, her heart heavy. This moon did not need her to rise in the sky, this moon did not need her to guide it across the sky. She knew she had a purpose but she wasn't even sure what it was anymore.

Selene spread out the blanket in the grass, the open area was on a hill and she could see some of the stars that were normally hidden by the lights of the city. She had texted Thomas.. Erebus to tell him where she was and laid back on the blanket to wait. Selene didn't fear the night or the threats that came from the city. She felt strong at night, her fingers itching to use her powers. Dreams, madness, sleep. All at her disposal. She stared at the moon, lost in thought. She didn't hear the footsteps approaching until she saw shadow.

And it was from the Shadows he came. The mortal body was thriving off the drink and drugs. It ached somewhat for something good but the thrill of power it got from speaking to other gods, to having been in the presence of Psyche who seemed so terribly strong, that was better than any drug the vessel could take. He could feel Thomas fight but the moment Erebus stepped into a shadow from outside of Nyx and melted away into it he heard a new sound.

Oh.

Oh, indeed. And wasn't the thrum of energy sensational in the nerves? It reminded Thomas of when he let Erebus make love to Nyx that night, how he longed for it again but couldn't understand why. Because that was what real mind blowing felt like, silly mortal.

Selene had replied to his text first though so it was Selene he would see first. Poor dear seemed terribly depressed too and he couldn't have that. She heard no footsteps because there were none. He appeared from the shadow already sitting beside her then he reclined slowly and rest on an elbow, shifted on his side to face her in his three piece suit.

"Hello, Selene."

She felt him coming, almost like a pull in her gut. The presence of a powerful and primordial being reminded her of home. He was, in the simplest terms, her uncle and she felt suddenly stronger around him. She had been a little depressed. She found fun and lightheartedness with Raven and her other friends but she felt like she was lacking purpose, she missed Endymion.

"Hello, Erebus." She smiled and turned her head toward him. "I wondered when you would be back." Their last brief encounter had left her worried about the god within. He was strong but Thomas had been doing everything he could to suppress him. "Is Thomas alright?" She had accidentally destroyed her vessel's soul when the vessel was very young. She still felt guilt over it but understood how it could happen if a tug of war had occurred.

Selene looked back at the moon, her hand snaking out to clasp his. Although she undoubtedly had been interested in Thomas, she wasn't even thinking of anything more than comfort at that moment.

"He will be," he was not cruel. Dark, stoic, and often very much in control of situations when allowed but he would not kill Thomas unless he truly posed a terrible, terrible threat. He could be molded, could be used. All of his knowledge of the modern world was incredibly handy for Erebus and he soaked it up greedily while he had the control.

He sat up, crossed his legs and shifted smoothly closer until he could gently cradle her head and lift it up in his lap. Her hand was released to do this and he began to draw his long, cool fingers through her lovely red hair. Not quite as lovely as the moonbeams it had been but still, she was quite the sight.

"Child, why are you so sad?"

Selene let herself move to his lap and closed her eyes at his touch. There was home in his touch, those days when she had traveled the skies and spent the days with Oceanus in his home. She let herself enjoy the moment and looked up at him. She searched the familiar face of Thomas, his eyes different now that the god had taken over.

"I watch the moon traveling across the sky, see the world going by and I have no purpose. They don't need me, my own family does not need me." She closed her eyes again. "I have my powers back, I don't know how or why but everyday I realize that I can do things again. I've put people to sleep, given dreams, caused madness, and helped a coworker realize what she truly wanted in her heart.." She broke off and sighed. She reached up and swiped the tear from the corner of her eye. Selene wasn't sure she was depressed, she was just.. lost. She needed something more and without it, she was floundering.

"You make me feel young again, Erebus. You are a king without even trying." She laughed and met his dark gaze. She was light, the moon and he was darkness. She felt comfort in that darkness. It was almost like being cradled in it.

"Don't be ridiculous. Do you think just because the shadows and darkness exist without my telling it to that I have no say in it? I could easily strip this world of all it's light if I had the strength, and in due time I will," he promised, hands growing still where they had dragged through the length of her pretty mane.

"You flatter me, Moon child, but I can tell you miss the boy I share this body with. You always seem to like mortals so much more than the rest of us. He likes you too but he was poison."

She was quiet as she thought about his words. Had she ever tried to control the moonlight? The dreams and nighttime? Not since she was a child and had been disappointed. She realized that he was right, she could still control what was hers even though in this world it seemed like she was not needed. She smiled. Drawing strength from his presence and his touch. He was stronger, primal and his energy was soothing.

"I am very fond of Thomas, I have always found something intriguing and unfailingly fascinating about mortals and the way they think. Their emotions and feelings.." She had made no secret of her mortal lovers as a goddess. Her love for Endymion had been scandal for awhile until Zeus granted him immortality through sleep. "I miss him, perhaps once you have healed him, I can see him again?" She reached up to slide her hand along the familiar cheek, a hint of a smile on her face.

"Perhaps," there was no promise though. He couldn't be sure that Thomas would ever be ready to come out again. Erebus was not at all against holding the mortal down until he was gone completely if that was what it took. He did not hold sympathy for the mortals in that position. They were gods, they were meant to rule.

He continued to lovingly stroke her hair and then he dipped down and kissed her forehead like a father might.

"Do you miss your Helios and Eos?"

She wasn't sure she would ever get to see Thomas again and it made her heart heavy. She knew Erebus was strong, she could feel it and she didn't blame him for wanting complete control after being suppressed for so long. She would miss her friend but did prefer Erebus. "I miss them. Very much. Endymion even more."

She opened her eyes again and watched him. "I think what I miss most of all is a companion who understands." She had Raven but he was not of her pantheon and he didn't always understand her. "And you? Have you reconnected with Nyx? Others?"

Ah, the immortal mortal mentioned again, and he smiled almost sadly. He could never understand her desires for the mortals so he could not sympathize very easily.

"I have seen Nyx briefly but I fear her mortal is even more stubborn than mine. I am not so worried. I know she will come to me, we are all getting so much stronger... I heard I missed a grand party, did you go?"
