"This has changed everything. Changed you. Me." She fought the urge to sigh or stomp her foot in frustration. She didn't release the hold on him, the kiss soothed her and she took the energy that was connected with it. Pulling it into herself, she could feel him fill her senses. It was so familiar and stopped the panic.
"Does she please you? Even though she is nothing like who I was before.." Alright, so maybe Ma'at needed a little reassurance. She couldn't explain the connection with him in mortal terms. She had male lovers before, all of them stumbling over themselves to please her but they lacked the power that Thoth had. Even before the war, Ma'at had lovers other than Thoth and connections with other gods for various reasons.
Ma'at let go of his shirt, smoothing her hand over his chest. She stopped, hand over his heart, as she looked at him. Searching his gaze, she could feel him. His soul. Not Samuel but Thoth. The energy and power that were the real him. Forms were fluid, whether mortal or beast. "I can still see you, your power." It sounded ridiculous but it eased all of her worries and fears.
