Ma'at took the moment to look at him and realized what the problem was. She was struggling to make the connection that they had while immortals when it was much different now. Before it had been magic that connected them, certain times touch itself was unnecessary, it just was. Now human emotions and feelings from Lucia lingered and changed how she viewed him. It was new and yet all of the old connections still lay underneath the new. Thoth was connected to her in ways that no one but the two of them understood. It transcended the physical connection.
She had forgotten everything else as she met his gaze, her hands seeking his skin. In that moment it was just them again, her frustrations and desperation melting away. She curled against his chest when she was picked up.
Ma'at didn't even notice the mess, she had eyes for him. She curled her hands in the front of his shirt and didn't release him to move away, instead leaning up and biting him on the underside of his jaw. It wasn't gentle, it was needy as she tried to pull him onto the bed with her.
