Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:!active, day 02, dean winchester, john sheppard, location: experiment, rose tyler, sam flynn

WHO: John Sheppard, Rose Tyler, Sam Flynn, Dean Winchester
WHAT: Who the hell knows, but it's day two and they're charged with a pointless task
WHEN: Day 2
WHERE: Somewhere in the facility
RATING: TBD
STATUS: active

John's first thought as he came awake was that he needed to lay off the Athosian hooch, because Jesus, he'd had some seriously fucked up dreams. Then he rolled onto his side and opened his eyes and saw three other people laying on the floor and realized his memory of waking up in some kind of psycho science experiment wasn't a nightmare.

"This is really not funny anymore," he groaned as he pushed to hands and knees. He blinked himself to full wakefulness and looked around again. Looked like Rose, one of the Sams, and Dean were his ersatz bunkmates. John was abstractly glad to see Dean there. From their limited interaction yesterday, he'd liked the seeming brash, impulsive way had Dean approached their situation. Looking beyond the prone bodies, he saw a single egress and a pile of rocks in one corner. There were pickaxes or something lying against it and John huffed a laugh.

"You gotta be kidding me."

Dean groaned as he slowly came to on a hard surface for the second freaking day in a row. Ooo...a floor this time around. This was just getting ridiculous. His back and head hurt like a bitch, leading him to believe whatever had dropped him here hadn't been gentle about it.

He very slowly tried to stand up and noticed he had acuff on his wrist and ankle, awesome....thought could in nno way be bad. How the hell could things get worse after yesterday? Looking around he saw that he wasn't alone in Jigsaw's fucking hellhouse. The weird alien chick Rose and other Sam were here....so where was his Sam? On the plus side he wasn't chained up next to him, but what if he was somewhere worse? At least John was here, he seemed ok from what he'd seen yesterday.

He crawled into a sitting position and spotted the pick axes in the corner, "that won't end fun." Dean gave John a weak smile, "hey, sleep well?"

Rose had the hopeful idea of waking up today and trying to figure this place out. But, that didn't happen, instead she woke up in a room with a few of the others and not on a bed. What was with this place? Was it just going to make her wake up someplace different each time she went to bed?

Rose slowly came to it, taking in her surroundings as she did. The blonde sat up and noticed the metal cuff on her arm and ankle. "You guys just wake up also?"

Being awake was not agreeing with Sam Flynn. With a tortured groan, he sat up and rubbed his face, which brought him to the uncomfortable realization that he had a fat metal cuff on his wrist. "Wh-what?"

As much as he wanted to excuse yesterday (and a bit the day before, too), this series of crazy shit was not over. He shifted and discovered a second one in his wrist. The weren't your average cuffs, he noted as he poked at them. He listened to the one on the wrist and he heard a high-pitched electrical sound.

"Yeah," he said to Rose and Dean. "Slept great. I've always preferred a firm mattress." He head a groan from Sam's way and gave a little wave when he looked up. "Welcome to the party."

Watching Sam poke at his cuffs, made John take a look at his. One on his left arm and one around his right ankle, inside his boot. That's what he got, he supposed, for the half-assed lacing job he always did. He picked at the one on his wrist for a moment, trying to find some way to release it, but the material was weirdly smooth and unbroken.

Pushing to his feet, hiding the wince when his body protested, he went immediately for the pickaxes and hefted one. It was heavy and solid.

"Now, why would they want to arm us like this?" he asked the room in general, giving the axe a swing.

By the look of these cuffs his first thought was electric fence. "Somehow I'm doubting we can just walk out the probably locked door with these one." Frowns trying to figure out why they would give them weapons. "Maybe this is like some fucked up place were people are forced to battle to the death," he knew this movie...but somehow he couldn't remember how the people got out of that shit. He slowly got to his feet and walked over to examine the pick axes. Maybe he could use it to try to get these damn cuffs off...it was worth a shot.

"My big problem is there are only four of us here, so where are the other three?" As he was examining the pick axes, the weird palm pilot-y thing Sam gave him yesterday started to go off in his pocket..which was random cause he hadn't gone to sleep with it, but then again on the scale of weird about this place that was like a 2.

Reading his little node thing he couldn't help himself, he burst out laughing. "Anybody else get the message-o-crazy? Apparently we're suppose to spend the day breaking rocks or else." Ok, he wasn't a convict on a chain gang and Paul Newman was nowhere to be found so yeah...he wasn't gonna do that.

Rose was fearful for the Doctor and the others on why they weren't in the room. She hoped that mean they were okay, but with a place like this, you just never knew.

Rose gave a look of disgust when Dean said this could be one of those places where they make poeple battle to death. Rose sure hoped that wasn't the case. Though, she knew that some sick poeple out there liked that for entertainment.

Rose stood up and walked over to the axes. "Just don't get it." Why would they want them to have pick axes? It seemed that, that answer shortly came when Dean read the message. Rose reached into her pocket and pulled her out. "Yep, got the same message." She glanced around the room then down at the rocks. "This has to be some sick joke." How could this be real? "Been to all sorts of places and seen all sorts of things, but this...." She shook her head.

Sam checked his PDA, which definitely had the same message. "Good," he muttered. "Really what I wanted to do today."

Every joint felt like it was rusted stiff when he sat up. Not only did he feel a bit hung over, but it was obvious he'd slept there. And now, the unknown being wanted him to swing a pickaxe? It almost seemed worth it to get this unknown punishment, except he had to survive to get back to his life.

Finally on his feet, Sam swaggered over to the pickaxes and hefted one up on his shoulder. "We doing this?" he genuinely asked, most of him hoping that the answer was 'no'.

John felt his PDA buzz and was shaking his head at the message, just like everyone else.

"You've got to say one thing about these guys. They're psychotically happy. Have a nice day, my ass."

Dropping the pickax, John headed over to the door, looking for any sort of locking mechanism. He was starting to feel the first stirrings of real apprehension. Holding them captive was one thing, demanding they complete a nonsensical task or face punishment was taking a solid step over the line into psychological manipulation and, if they made good on the threat of punishment, possible torture. Whoever this aggressively cheerful enemy was, John was one hundred percent certain he didn't want to experience whatever punishment they might have in mind.

"No," he said in response to Sam's question. "We're not doing anything they ask; resist by all means available." He turned back to the room and looked at Sam. "You're a computer guy, right? See if you can find anything to get this door open."

"Well just cause you kidnap a bunch of people and try to force them to do menial labor, there's no reason to be rude about it." Dean immediately started trying to figure out how to use this damn Palm Pilot thingie. Sam had more or less taught him yesterday but now he couldn't get it to work, he just wanted to make sure Sam was ok and not stuck somewhere worse.

"Son of a bitch," he growled as the thing failed to send his message for the third time. "Ok look I suck with this tech stuff, anybody else able to send a message?" He was hoping to God he was just an idiot who couldn't work this stupid thing and there wasn't something wrong with the system.

"I agree that I don't want to do this, but maybe we should." Rose looked around the room at the others. "Mean, we don't know who or what we are dealin' with yet, think it's best we just listen to them for now till we figure things out." Rose didn't like the idea of following the orders anymore then the others, but she also didn't want whatever punishment they might have in store for them if they don't.

"'Sides, maybe gettin' on their good side will give us an advantage." It was at least worth a try Rose thought.

The pickaxe didn't stay up on his shoulder for long. The thing was damn heavy.

Sheppard's suggestion seemed far more inviting that the orders to pound rocks. No part of him was jumping at the chance to find out what the punishment was, but he didn't see any guys waiting to beat the shit out of them, so it only seemed creeping instead of imposing.

Sam made his way to the door and ran his fingers over it, searching it for a panel or a weak joint. Nothing. Then it was on to tapping it, looking for bolts or connections. Nope. At last he resorted to pressing his ear against it and listening for resonating electrical sounds.

"You're assuming they have a good side," he commented, his ear still pressed to the cool metal. It wasn't a bet he'd take.

As Sam started checking out the door, John walked the perimeter of the room, looking for any access panels, and not finding any. He examined the pile of rocks more closely, trying to see if they might hide something useful, but it was impossible to tell and he highly doubted they did, anyway.

Finally, he stepped closer to Rose. "I understand that impulse, it's completely natural, but trust me it's the wrong thing to do. We have no trust with them and we cannot allow ourselves to trust them. We've got no guarantee that completing their task will eliminate the chance of punishment. They kidnapped us. We are prisoners of an unknown enemy."

There were plenty of things in life John didn't take seriously, including parts of the military code of conduct, but as a pilot who'd regularly flown behind enemy lines and then as CO of the only base in a hostile galaxy, he'd received intensive and regular SERE training, and that was something he took very seriously.

"I can't order you not to, but I strongly suggest you just have a seat and wait them out." He tried to smile reassuringly, but he wasn't sure how well it came off, so he moved back to the wall and took his own advice to have a seat. He fished out his PDA and started poking at it.

"I'm not great with tech, either, but maybe this thing has some games. Solitaire, chess, Angry Birds."

Dean nods at John's words, at the very least he was pretty sure he could rely on the other man if shit started to go really bad. He seemed to have a level enough head. "I'm not ready to bend over for these guys and do their chores. Maybe if they see all of us not working they'll get their heads out of their collective asses and give us some answers."

All the while he kept fiddling with the damn PDA thing, as if smashing the buttons would make it work. "Right now I just want to know where the hell they stashed the others," most importantly, where the hell did they put Sam? He growled in frustration and chucked the thing, not hard enough for it to break but hard enough for him to feel better. Suddenly John's words caught his attention again. "What angry birds?" He figured it must be some game but he couldn't get the mental image of him smashing the devise and a swarm of raging birds flying out of it...his mind was random.

Rose knew the one guy was right, how did they really know if whoever was holding them had a nice side. Didn't they always show that in movies? Where someone does what they are suppose to do, but still end up getting killed? She didn't want to follow their orders and do what they wanted, but at the same time she wanted to get out of here.

"Right, yeah," she shrugged and moves over to take a seat. She just hoped the Doctor was okay and maybe finding a way out for them.

"I got nothin' here, man," Sam resigned after a few good moments of knocking on the door a few extra times for good measure.

"Let's just-" before he could finish his sentence, he was interrupted.

A red light slowly began to strobe in the room, ending any subversive conversation. The two cuffs on each participant act as poles for an electrical current to pass from their wrists to their leg. This time, it is only painful, not agonizing. Definitely paralyzing.

After about 15 seconds, their personal nodes ding in unison.

The new message reads:

Further negligence will result in more severe punishment.

John shook out his hands, phantom pain still zinging along his nerves, and then looked at his PDA. Further negligence, he thought. You bastards can expect a lot more negligence. As hard as he could, he threw the PDA against the wall and watched with satisfaction as the case cracked. If he had his gun, he would have shot it, just for good measure.

Rising shakily to his feet, he looked everyone in the room over.

"Everyone alright?"

His body locked up when the electric currents began to run through his body. This wasn't the first time he'd been electrocuted, didn't make it any easier but he just tried to ride it out. After a few second it finally stopped and he crumbled to the floor. "Son of a bitch," were the first words out of his mouth when his brain could form thoughts again. He slowly sat up and shook it off, "I'm ok."

Rose started to get up when she saw the light, but soon felt the pain travel through her body and was unable to move until it passed. As soon as it did, she dropped back down to where she was sitting.

She looked over to the others. "Yeah, fine over here, just hurt a bit." She could still feel tingles traveling through her body. If this was all they had it wasn't so bad, but Rose wasn't so sure she wanted to test that.

"Don't really want to find out what the more severe punishment is."

The electricity sent Sam straight to the ground. He could feel the punishing volts arch through his body. When it finally stopped, he swore he could feel his muscles sizzling a bit. "Shit."

He grabbed the pickaxe with now weakened muscles and used it to prop himself up.

John flexed his fingers and his toes. Everything still hurt, but he shook it off. These people were doubtless scared, so he'd show them a brave face.

"Yeah, I don't particularly, either," he said to Rose, "but it doesn't matter. Whatever they want, we can't give it."

John looked at Dean and figured he was already on board with resistance, so he walked to Sam and took his elbow in hand.

"How're you doing?" He asked and then dropped his voice. "No matter what we do, there's more coming. You' realize that, right?"
