Casper
Casper wasn’t much of a talker, for years he’d lived alone, worked alone and until Boston he’s never had someone he could truly trust, call a friend or anyone for that matter that could converse with, Taj was different though but even still old habit were incredibly hard things to just break and forget about. He may not have said much the entire car ride or the walk through the mountains but he did listen, he listened to every single word, letting the sound of Taj’s voice mingle with the natural sounds of the nature that surrounded them, the other’s voice now almost as normal as the sound of the wind was to the werewolves ears, even out there in the open, on a mountain far away from everything else the Sphinx’s voice didn’t seem out of place to the werewolf, it was hard for him to even imagine what it would be like right there on the mountain without the other and the more he listened to every word the more he learned about the Sphinx, the more he started to understand certain things about him, his dislike for orphanages, the reason behind as to why he had refused to tell him more about his brother’s. Casper had so far only met one of the Sphinx’s brothers and after that had gone down he was pretty sure he was never going to meet the rest of them, it would be for the best because there was no telling where or when his wolf might rear his protective head and try and stake even more claim than he already had on the man that walked beside him, hell, it was hard enough to keep himself from growling and baring his teeth at the very mention of everything that had happened to Taj in foster care, the way they had treated his Sphinx had him wanting to kill every last one of them, no one would hurt his Taj ever again, not if he could help it, he’d make anyone who ever so much as tried sorely regret the decision.
Sitting there on the grass, his back pressed against the tree trunk Casper pulled his knees up close to his chest and slipped off his sneakers and holey socks, tucking them into the shoes before placing them aside and stretching his legs out once more, grinning as he enjoyed the feeling of the green blades between his toes. His attention didn’t stray from Taj for long though and when the other’s words suddenly cut off mid sentence he watched him closely, momentarily thinking that something was wrong, senses jumping straight back to high alert for what felt like the millionth time that day, at least until he saw that the other was grinning, curiosity sparking within his eyes as he sat back and let the other climb into his lap, his hands automatically coming to rest on his hips, head cocked slightly to the side as he studied his face. His own smile widened the moment Taj started singing, his body yearning for the kiss as the Sphinx leaned in but didn’t give it to him just yet, watching the way the colours of the setting sun seeming to dance pools of colour across his eyes, completely fascinated by it until Taj continued singing, those words echoing around inside of Casper’s brain before his thoughts were abruptly cut off the moment their lips touched. His eyes slipped shut, his hands leaving the other’s waist to instead wrap his arms around it, pulling him closer without even thinking to ask for permission first.
He lost himself in that kiss, the taste of Taj, the warmth of the dying sun on his skin, the feel of the boy upon him and the grass and earth beneath him. Casper loved sunset, he always had, that moment of dusk where the sun had fallen behind the horizon leaving only the beauty of its fading colours behind before the moon took over was his favourite part of the day. He felt at ease then, out there in the wild with Taj, more comfortable than he had ever been before around the other and he could have stayed there and kissed him forever, he could have kissed him until he ran out of breath and then kissed him some more but their lip lock broke the moment the fading sun made way for the moon, the rise of the not yet completely formed silver orb immediately drawing Casper’s attention. It wasn’t something he chose to do, it was something his body did automatically as he opened his eyes and watched the moon come into view, head cocked slightly to the side as he watched her, drawn to her, hypnotized by her silent song.
