It had been quite a time. The travel itself was a one thing with Casper's need to stop and get out of the car every so often but once the pair had reached the smokies and got their camping spot all set up their world might as well have turned into a movie montage of silliness roaming the downtown tourist streets of Gatlingburg Tenn. In and out of gift shop after gift shop, stopping in candy shops after viewing the giant taffy pullers stretching the sticky stuff, candle makers making the most elaborate artistic candles Taj had ever seen, glass blowers, cloggers on the streets clacking their heels to ho down music that even a music lover like Taj didn't particularly like, but in the moment of excitement for new things was found taking a part of trying to make his feet do what the cloggers did. He kept seeing a sign about Crystal Caves and mentioned he wanted to go there too. They'd eaten lunch in the Hard Rock Cafe where'd bought souvenir T's for them both and ended up on table tops singing the YMCA with waitresses there who got the whole thing started. There seemed to be a big gnome theme there and just because Taj was a ham he was picking them up and moving them around just to cause chatter from the folks around wondering if they'd moved on their own with gnomey magic.
Mini-golf and Taj and Casper might as well have been a comedy hour all of it's own with balls flying this way and that. Not to mention the "immoveable" giant water ball outside of Ripley's Believe it or Not that Casper had no problem moving right off the base and it went rolling down the walk. That was an eye popping take off running from the scene of the crime moment if there ever was one. They hid out in a China Bizzare until they thought the coast was clear to come out, Taj giggling his ass off when he saw the heavy machinery that they had to bring in to put the heavy marble ball back in place. The pair was inside Ripley's Aquarium and had just stepped out of seeing the penquins and the day was winding down when they came to what Taj really wanted to go there to see. The shark tunnel. It was long glass tunnel filled with enchanting music to make the experience more awe-inpiring and luckily they were there on the down season and it wasn't crowded at all, just a couple stray people quietly themselves. Taj was flipping through his digital camera and once again laughing, pierced lip never not grinning throughout this trip, as he flipped through the photos of him standing next to the Herbie car from the Herbie movie that sat outside on the Gatlingburg streets, to the photos of them dressed in kimonos and holding fans and parasels in the china bizzare. "You look pretty." He chuckled shaking his head at the whole thing. Then those lips rolled in and pondered as he really thought the shark tunnel over.
He slipped up slowly behind Casper tucking his camera back in his pocket. He scissor walked his finger tips around his waist and held him close getting his chin nice and comfy atop his shouder as he walked them forward to enter. He whispered too, "We should be quiet in here." His hands moved to capture Casper's and hold them against his belly, without really saying Casper shouldn't touch the glass, for fear of them drowning them all, kissing the side of his neck. "I've always wanted to stand in here. I can't believe I really just up and left and I'm here already."

To say that so far it had been a whirlwind adventure would have been the understatement of the century, Casper was overwhelmed to say the least by just about everything that surrounded them and just about everything Taj took him to do and see, he didn’t mind doing any single part of it, he enjoyed every new, exciting and embarrassing experience even when he’d had to bashfully apologize to the guy behind the counter at miniature gulf about breaking the little stick thing that Taj had told him was for hitting the golf ball, it was safe to say he’d lost count of how many balls he’d sent sailing out of the park or how many had quite literally just disintegrated into millions of tiny pieces after he picked them up or hit them. They appeared stronger than they actually were but unfortunately just like the attraction of the ‘immovable’ ball, they were no match for a werewolf who very much may have just been caught red handed if Taj hadn’t always been there to drag him out of his nervous embarrassment and force him to start running...usually in the opposite direction.
He’d enjoyed it all though, even those moments when his embarrassment threatened to nearly kill him, his favourite so far though, aside from seeing the look and smile never leave the Sphinx’s face the entire time, his favourite part was when Taj had started moving around the gnomes, that he was able to help with and as it turned out, he was rather good at it too what with his wolfish ability to be able to sneak up on people and move things around virtually unheard and unseen, years of sneaking around and being just another blank face in the crowd had finally seemed to pay off. Hell, he’d even enjoyed the aquarium up until Taj walked them into the shark tunnel, he hadn’t even realized what was inside or just exactly where they were going until they were already in there, too distracted by the feel of the other’s body pressed up against his own like that, the little kiss to his neck nearly enough to tremble until every single muscle inside of him locked up into place and froze there.
Casper had a thing about water, he wasn’t a fan of it and he hadn’t been lying when he told Taj that he didn’t like swimming, truth was he’d never learned how to swim, he’d grown up in a place where the water was far too cold for swimming even after the ice it often turned to had melted away. Water made him nervous, he’d fallen though some ice when he’d been around the age of five or six and he hadn’t liked it since, not only that but a car ride was bad enough, let alone standing right there in a tunnel made of glass surrounded by water and other predators. Fish were one thing, sharks on the other hand were an entirely different matter and every sense Casper possessed was back on high alert from the moment they’d entered the tunnel, the fine hairs at the nape of his neck standing on end and even though that could have had something to do with the breath that belonged to Taj the fact of the matter was simple that no matter how safe these humans felt standing in this tunnel, protected by layers upon layers of thick glass, glass was little more than a wall made of fabric to a werewolf. He managed to do remotely okay though, it was easier with Taj curled around him from behind like that even though he was pretty sure the Sphinx wouldn’t miss his body language he still didn’t say a word about it, Taj wanted to be here and Casper was willing to stay, for as long as his Sphinx wanted to stand there, a slowly as he wanted to make his way through the tunnel, wondering to himself as he walked, why the sharks didn’t eat the smaller fish, if he was shark he’d probably eat them just because they were there.
It was pretty; Casper would give Taj that much but the single thought didn’t last very long, the moment a larger shark, larger than the ones they’d seen so far went gliding through the water right above their heads Casper jumped, head snapping up instantly refusing to take his eyes off of the large creature while a soft growl rumbled from within the back of his throat without him even realizing.
tajmuhull:
Taj knew nothing of Casper's childhood trauma but it was a funny thing how that worked. When people's energies were that strong about things (and of course it happened to the sphinx quite often even when it was weak - he never could quite control it) but his mind would capture it, sense it, drop him to a vision. The stronger and more vivid the vision the more his body would react. He could be seeing things in his mind all the time while walking around and no one ever knew any different. But, sometimes if it was strong, like this time, it still affected him, just like when he was a kid, the reason the orphanage had misdiagnosed him as epileptic. His body started to feel cold. He thought the tunnel was just temperature controled and didn't realize what was happening so as Casper started to growl he just kept going, "Shhhhh, It's okay baby." He tried to reassure him in a low voice as his skin started to get goosebumps which caused Taj to shiver. "They can't get to us here. They can't do anything to us from in the glass. I promise." He pressed a new kiss to the side of Casper's head and his grip on his partner's hands grew firmer inside that reassurance. At least, that's what it was -at first- then the grip tightened to what was probably becoming uncomfortable even for the werewolf. Taj's whole body was stiffening up like riggormortis had set in on his still live body. His eyes rolled to the back of his head and in Taj's mind he was Casper inside that icy water, all Casper's frightened 5 year old feelings surging through him, experiencing the moment just as Casper did. There came a moment when his body started to shake just before losing his stabality and would have collapsed and hit the ground hard if Casper wasn't able to catch him. And when his eyes came back to the reality of the present he was still shaking from the fright of the experience, breathing heavy, reaching out for something to hold on to.
casperhowls:
He liked it when Taj called him baby, he hadn’t realized it before but he did and when he heard those soft words and felt the other grip his hand just a little tighter. Casper was somehow able to manage to stop the growling in his throat and keep going, some part of this wanting to do this for Taj, another part knowing that the tunnel couldn’t go on forever and the more he moved, the sooner he’d reach the end and be out of it. It wasn’t until Taj’s grip locked onto him so tightly as though he were nothing but a dead weight however did the young werewolf catch the scent of fear that didn’t belong to himself. It was a funny thing the scent of fear and no matter how hard his human mind tried to describe it he’d never been able to, it was made up of many different things, multiple hidden layers that only his wolf nose seemed to be able to sort through but none of that stopped him from spinning around the moment he realized the scent was coming from his Sphinx. His arms locked around the other firmly and maybe just a little too tightly, not understanding what was wrong, not knowing what was happening as he watched the other, the fear he felt at that moment almost as strong as that which had coursed through him when the supposedly frozen lake had given way beneath his feet. It was all he could do not to growl and threaten the few others making their way through the tunnel, instinct demanded his protect what was his at all costs even if that meant slaughtering every single living thing in that one area, he would have done it too if he hadn’t had some small scrap of a functioning brain left in that little blonde skull of his. Instead he gripped Taj tighter and held him close; to a passerby it may have looked as though he was hugging another make who was possibly crying, either way Casper didn’t care much, even though his senses told him how many people were in that tunnel and exactly where they were his complete and full attention was on Taj, not letting him go, not letting him fall even when his body went slack against him. “T-Taj....Taj what’s wrong..” He mumbled out against the Sphinx’s ear, not expecting an answer, his heart pounding so fast inside of his chest he could hear it echoing in his ears, Taj was shaking just as badly as Casper had been when they’d finally pulled him out of the icy water, he’d spent a while trapped there where he’d been sucked beneath the sheet of ice, he’d been young, his strength nowhere near what it was now but he’d managed to break through the sleet above him but every time he’d tried to pull himself out, his strength had caused whatever ice he’d been gripping to collapse and send him under all over again. It was a common mistake that people thought the body eventually became numb from the cold, the truth was, everything just seemed to hurt even more, like a thousand knives, stabbing again and again and again.
tajmuhull:
All that icy stabbing pain slowly dissapated in the reality of the actual present. But, the after effects of such a memory, feeling it, still had his heart racing like it was going to pound it's way right out of his chest. When he managed enough mind to focus on Casper he clung to him, he clung so tight and even started to cry it out. This was what Taj meant one time when he said he saw things or nightmares of things he wished he never saw. It happened alot with Andy. He didn't let Andy know how often that really was, seeing Andy put himself in harm's way on purpose with all those random men of the night that would abuse him in such horrific ways, always letting Andy play his bruises off like they were nothing. Years of this habitual routine left Taj more exhausted than he ever predicted. Taj wanted to be his rock, but the truth was Taj just wasn't made of stone. His heart hurt...alot. Especially when he saw the future and it haddened happened yet, watching his brother tell him goodbye, he "had things to do" knowing what those "things" were as he walked out of the safety of Taj's loving home. But, in this moment Taj had experienced Casper's past and as those cries of the moment settled themselves out and finally gained speech he shook his head and apologized like he'd been a bother or a nuissance to have had to be taken care of. He said sorry several times, "I didn't mean to." He always felt that it was wrong to be able to intrude on someone's life like that, their memories and especially on personal thoughts or intimate moments. "You were in the ice. My visions." He tried to explain. "I just... I just had a bad vision that's all. I didn't mean to. You were 5." Then he reached up combed his fingers through Casper's hair. "You were so scared. It hurt. A lot." He didn't use big descriptives. He knew Casper would remember exactly what he meant.
