Exar stared back, visibly glaring after her wink. “I haven't lied...and yes, I've heard of the concept.” He disgustedly looked over her for any sign of the amulet and added dryly, "But guess what? It doesn't apply here. This isn't a treasure hunt.."
He looked to her again and listened more intently, adding in a sigh. "You're not going anywhere—" Exar expected he'd effortlessly restrain her and be finished with the entire affair, but something quite unlike that unfolded. He abruptly stepped back as the girl transformed into a shapeless thing and maneuvered into a defensive posture in case 'she' intended to attack from above. Was it a shapechanger, or something else entirely?
Exar slashed his saber in a wide arc at the creature's retreating body, but his reaction time lagged behind a bit in the surprise. He resorted to stabbing upward with his saber, fiercely piercing through the ceiling tiles several times. Whatever that thing was, it was still on the move. While he had no idea if he slowed its ascent, let alone impaled it, if he had anything to do about it, he'd head it off. Clearly it was in the ventilation, given the noses he'd heard overhead. He cursed his stupidity in not expecting a surprise. She'd been so cocky, probably planning that escape since the start!
"Damn you!" He exclaimed angrily, while avoiding the mess of the ceiling he'd made. Once clear, he continued up the stairs, and then vaulted over to a smaller service stairwell leading to the roof, barely pausing his rhythm of four stairs at a time. Exar was fuming by the time he reached the roof access point. A secure door with a keyed exit blocked his way. He furtively searched for an alternative that wouldn't set off every alarm in the building and vicinity.
There, a green glass window above was suitable, but too high to get open from his level. He thumbed over the intensity adjust of his saber, checking it was on its highest setting, and stepped back. Simply drawing upon the Force – he executed a high running jump, and then came the tricky part, scoring the majority of the panel loose quick enough before gravity caught up with him. He viciously slashed at the glass; his saber was a blur and effortlessly cut through, visible outside. Without delay, he pushed the piece out with the Force and fell out beside it, hitting the roof in a roll. He held his saber up and inspected it was in one piece, and briefly reached behind his head to check his hair. One of these days he was going to cut his ponytail off during the acrobatics.
