"Jesus did," Alex pointed out, "He carried his cross through the city before being crucified on it. What people always seem to conveniently forget is that all prisoners sentenced to crucifixion carried their crosses through town like that and that thousands were crucified. It was a very common form of punishment, not to mention painful. Jesus was not singled out or sentenced in any special manner," that didn't take away from his sacrifice or his teaching and what he represented, but it did not make him unique. "I always thought that the cross was a rather ironic choice of a symbol because of that."
Alex nodded, taking the braided strands, "Can you make them longer?" he asked, trying to wrap it securely around his sticks. It wasn't quite long enough. That was the problem he had been running into all morning, though at least there was no chance of running out of grass to experiment with. "Prayer never hurts, Angelica. And it can help in the most unexpected of ways too."
