It was good having familiar faces around, but it was better having his teammates around... even if they were a few short. Ken had been spending his time working out, eating, and avoiding sleep. It wasn't like he needed it anyways. There was so much going through is mind, so many what ifs that if Hazmat were around she'd've stopped those trains from departing and gotten him back on track. Which left him somewhat fearful. In a new world where people really didn't know him, where he didn't know if his family existed, where he didn't know the fate of the other 15 kids in Arcade's death trap... It was easy for him to withdraw, to shut down and succumb to the emptiness of being a tin can, which, wasn't really good for anyone. But that's what Berto and the others were for. Losing himself entirely was something Mettle feared more than anything, so he was making the effort to hang out with those he knew and even make some new friends entirely. The more he did, the more normal he felt.
Today was going to be a normal day complete with bad foods and hours of videogames. The money he'd been given from SHIELD at first hadn't been spent on anything more than necessities, but the necessities of a teenager were far different from those of an adult. Luckily, the place was already partially furnished, so he'd picked up a gaming console and a couple of cheap, used games to keep himself entertained. The cushions from the couch had been pulled off and set down on the floor so you could sit comfortably and still lean back against the sofa itself. The rest of the place still looked drab and boring, but Mettle was determined to make it feel like home eventually. If anything, at least his fridge was full of food thanks to a delivery service like Peapod. He wasn't exactly keen on going out into public just yet after a little snafu the other day with some tourists. Not everyone was ready for a big, mean-mugging guy like Ken. Heck, he partially wanted to seek out Ben Grimm from the Fantastic Four to ask how he got around in such a big city without drawing attention, but, it didn't seem like the rocky fellow was in this world.
After sending a few text messages to Humberto, Mettle kept the door unlocked so his friend could just waltz on in. Things were supposed to be safer around here, right? And well all the heroes around, why shouldn't he keep his place unlocked? Back home, everything was an open-door policy, which was great, so he wanted to keep that feeling around too. Pizza had already been ordered and only just arrived a few minutes ago, so the hot boxes were situated carelessly atop the coffee table in front of Ken as he sat on a cushion playing some game already.
