While he may not have eyebrows or cheeks to express thing, a roll of the eyes was certainly within the realm of his possibilities. Pym was important to all of them, not only as a teacher and a mentor, but as someone that finally started seeing them as adults and not some children that needed babysitting because they were "at risk youth." Were they still at risk for.. well, blowing up the world or enslaving mankind? Who knows. Mettle never really thought he was, not with how chill his parents were, not with how calm he knew he could be. It only scared him that he still wasn't testing the limits of his strength in fear of hurting something, killing someone.. Which still effected him today. Yeah, Pym was definitely someone that helped keep the team and its individual members from falling apart.
There was a lot more he could ask, but, one thing at a time. Plus, whatever Julie didn't or couldn't answer, he was sure his team captain would have some more answers, and even then, Finesse and X-23 always had a way of figuring things out before everyone else. Dang, even Veil was quick on that too, but at least she got to return home to a normal life. None of this crazy portal jumping stuff, that's for sure! While others may have a hard time comprehending, and Ken wasn't exactly the brightest of the bunch, he could still manage. They'd had their adult bodies pulled from a different universe in a different timeline all together just to defeat a god! And the whole Pym-particle dimension stuff? Very crazy. Plus, Berto came from the future, and.. yeah. He soaked in what Julie was saying, keeping his mind as open to the possibility of seeing Spongebob and Agent Scully walking around as best he could.
"Oh.. Julie, I'm really sorry, girl." That hurt, knowing that Julie was hurting because of some messed up dimension thing, but it really tore at his heart wondering what would happen if he were placed in that situation. It took time for him and Hazmat to get close, it took events and self-therapy and battles.. What if she did get here and didn't know any of those things took place? It made him sad, for himself, and especially for Julie: someone she loved was there, available, tangible... and had no idea how much.. He forced a sigh and gave her a quick hug. When he let go, he stared just as blankly as ever as she continued, glad to know she had someone here with her when she first arrived. "Woah, she's from that far back? That's one event I wouldn't want to forget. Berto was in his element. Wonder if the Savage Land exists here, maybe we could send him there to visit some relatives," he joked.
"So, what's this stuff about training? The Academy isn't around, but there's all this SHIELD stuff? I wasn't really paying attention to the guys with guns, they looked like they hated their job. A lot."
