Auditions are held from 6:00 to 9:00 pm in the Tower Gymnasium. Audition forms are found on a table as soon as people walk through the doors, along with copies of the different monologues and scenes from the play, and full scripts. Kurt is siting behind a separate table beside Kitty, and as people come in to audition, Kitty takes a photo of them for future reference and they are assigned a number, which goes at the top of their audition form. Another table in the back of the room has snacks (there are green and red grapes along with the cookies, and bottled water).
In his announcement, Kurt asked for auditioners to bring their own Shakespearean monologue to read - Kurt begins each audition by asking each participant to read their selected piece. Then they are asked to read for the part they want to audition for. When reading group scenes, Kurt or Kitty will either read for the other part, or else Kurt will ask for another auditioner to read. If a person or people auditioning are promising, Kurt will pull out the full script and have them read specific scenes together to see how well they work together. Kurt often leans over to Kitty to ask for her opinion.
Those auditioning for the role of C3-PO are asked to do their best Robot moves. (LOL @ this video!) If the auditioner is not familiar with the Robot, then Kurt will quickly demonstrate.
Those auditioning for the role of Darth Vadar are not required to imitate his breathing.
Those auditioning for the role of Greedo are told that they will be speaking like Greedo in the movie (but Han shoots first!)
Those auditioning for the role of Princess Leia are told that the play requires them to sing a very short song. Kurt will ask them to sing the song from Much Ado About Nothing'Sigh No More Ladies to the tune from the Kevin Branagh film. Kurt will have the music available for the auditioner to listen on a headset to so they can familiarize themselves with the tune beforehand, and lyrics are made available. During the audition, the music is cued so they don't have to sing it a capella.
Anybody is welcome to audition, from any Fandom! Characters who are interested only in the production side of the play are also encouraged to come!
Please fill out this audition sheet and post it here, along with any questions or comments or interactions between characters that you may have.
