Rating: High for fireworks-induced panic attack/PTSD. Other warnings TBD
After learning of fireworks and the best place to see them, Hope had ventured out into NYC to see what the fuss was all about. She was interested, sure, and since no one was around to tell her either what to do or what she should be doing, she figured it was okay to go out and take a take a look. As she wandered the streets, she could feel mutants - or something like them - somewhere out there. There were a lot more than the world she'd just been in, more even in this city than the whole world back there. She was interested in learning more about them, but she wasn't sure what would happen if she did.
Making her way to Central Park as the night settled, she stared around herself with interest. People bumped into her without knowing who she was - which was a blessing - though here and there she heard someone call her "Sansa" or "Sophie" and she had no idea why. Pushing her hair behind her ears, the redheaded teen finally stopped when everyone else seemed to, and looked up expectantly at the dark sky.
Moments later, there was a loud boom, followed by a whistling sound, then crackles...and the sky exploded above her. Letting out a muffled shout, she stumbled back, eyes wide, as the sounds continued. Logically, she knew they were coming from the colorful displays above, but her heart began to pound, breath quickening. Continuing to stagger back, she eventually stumbled against a tree and stayed in place, flinching with each explosion. Then came another, shorter sound - a group of boys only a few feet away were setting off something nearby, and the unexpected sound instantly had her reaching for a gun that wasn't there. Her body locked up and she swayed as a group passed her, causing her to stumble once more and this time fall to the ground. Lifting her hands, she covered her ears and curled up into a ball as she scooted back against the tree trunk, trying desperately to block out the sounds, not knowing that her hands had begun to glow subtly thanks to her heightened emotional state.
