This was all wrong. Completely wrong. Not the fact that she was wearing a pencil skirt and a fedora. Not the fact that she was in high heels and her hair was in curls piled on top of her head. Not because she was in a room filled with smoke, a gun on her hip and in a car chase. It was the fact that this guy was calling her toots. Her. Captain Marvel. Carol Danvers. Toots. That's why the dream just felt.. unnatural. She was kind of digging the noir thing as they raced down the road, trying to avoid being shot at with tommy guns from the car in front of them. Perhaps that was why she reached over, punched the guy in the face with a resounding. "No one calls me toots!" and then pushed him out of the speeding car before slipping into the drivers seat. Apparently she was kind of a sultry femme fatale. It was kind of nice though. The cars zipped through the city, just narrowly missing careening into other cars. Leaning out of the window, Carol gripped her gun and fired two shots into the tire of the first car. It hit sending the car flipping through the road before it stopped in a large crash into a ditch. A smile slipped over her lips as she slowed to a stop and came up beside them. She didn't even bother to get out of the car. Two men were struggling to right themselves, hands on their guns still. Better get this over with. "Oh boys, guess you should have tried a little better.. sweetheart." She blew them a kiss and then plugged both of them with two shots. Both men went down in a bit of a heap. "Send your boss my regards." In the distance she heard sirens. Time to go. There was no way the coppers were going to catch up to her. Not this night. Not when everything was going so damn well. Gunning the engine, the car revved to life and took off in a cloud of smoke. She would slip into the crowd and blend in, no one would be any the wiser. Now she just had to get this pesky detective off her tail. Carol smiled at herself in the rear view mirror. She had a plan. |
