Who: Rory Gilmore
When: Throughout September & first few days of October
Where: Her bedroom
What: Rory is figuring out if she does have powers or not
Rating: G
Rory was going to figure out what was going on, but was having a hard time replicating what had happened just a couple days before. If she had an invisible shield, it did not work and did not keep her from bumping into people or objects. The conclusion, she didn’t have an invisible shield. She researched other powers that could possibly have something to do with it and settled on deflection. So she sat down to make a list of the factors that had contributed to the first incident. There were not many factors: the sun was out that day, an object was thrown at her, and she was inside a building at the time of occurrence. After staring at the list for almost an hour, Rory decided that the only logical explanation was the object thrown at her. As she tried to replicate the book being thrown at her, Rory wasn’t having any success. When she tossed a book up the first time, it hit her on the head. After the first try, Rory decided to try something that wouldn’t hurt and opted for a tennis ball. It would make having an object come towards her in a similar fashion easier on her own. She knew that she should ask for help, but her concern was that asking for help would interfere with the testing at this stage. If she figured out that she did in fact have a new power, then Rory would enlist the help of someone. Rory took a break from recreating when she settled on using a tennis ball, deciding to see if anything would happen naturally. Plus, she had homework and her after school job, being an assistant to Phoebe at the Times, to concern herself with. Rory was beginning to wonder if getting frustrated would interfere because she was definitely getting frustrated at her lack of progress. The break was nice and Rory decided she wouldn’t worry about it anymore. If it happened again, she’d know for certain and if it didn’t, there was probably someone or something else that kept the book from hitting her. She didn’t think about it again until two weeks later, when she headed to the bookshop she used to work in. Rory wasn’t sure what it was, yet something was heading straight for her. Instinctively, Rory put her hands up to protect her face. As she did so the object went flying off in the direction it had come from. She looked around at all the people passing her by on the sidewalk and no one seemed to notice what had happened. Regardless of anyone noticing, Rory was certain that it was because she had some sort of deflection power. One that only worked in certain instances, perhaps when she felt like she was going to suffer as a result or she was scared. Now that she had more of an idea of what was going on, Rory decided to head back to the tower. She’d have to contact the teacher she spoke with and let them know what she was thinking and to get help testing the limits of this deflection power. |
