Apparently her day had not been long enough. Fighting Ultron, taking him into space, finally meeting her father, and then riding a lightening bolt back to Midgard before going back into the city just couldn’t be enough. The best part of the whole thing had been meeting her father, and the outfit she had been sent back in, armour that had matched his own. Now she had no idea what was happening to her, what she had really saw, or why she was in so much pain. Ultron City had been in view, and then she had looked up. Finally the pain stopped. For a moment she didn’t move. She was on one knee, hand on the ground, eyes closed. When she started to think that maybe she was in the clear from whatever had just happened, she opened her eyes. Whatever she had been expecting, it definitely wasn’t a group of people holding guns that were pointed at her. The Scavengers didn’t have outfits, or weapons like these, and they point them at her either. But at least they weren’t machines. She was pretty sure. She’d had enough of robots for a few hours, at least. Torunn immediately rose, her hand wrapping around the hilt of her sword and pulling it from her back. She didn’t know what was going on, but after the day she had just had, this kind of greeting was not going to go over well with her. “What is the meaning of this?” she demanded. “Who are you?” She was giving them five seconds before she took them all down. "Hold," called Thor, stepping forward in front of the SHIELD agents that were simply doing their jobs. He took in the sight of the young warrior, hand to her sword and dressed in something easily recognized. "This young warrior bears the armaments of Asgard." He did not know who she was, but anyone from Asgard arriving here was definitely something worthy of notice. Once the agents stepped away, though they kept their weapons at the ready (generally wisely), Thor approached and spread his palms to show he was offering no offense. Likewise, he waved the other guardians away and smiled. "Welcome to Midgard, Aesir. May I have the honor of your name?" While she had no idea what to expect, she had not expected him to walk forward. Him, Thor, though not him at the same time. There was slight differences, but it was still him, and the shock of it was written all over her face. She had been talking to him, not much more than an hour ago. He had knew who she was then, and now he didn’t. Her father would never greet her like this. At least she didn’t think he would. So maybe this wasn’t him. There were subtle differences, and her father had no reason to not be in Asgard, and this place was not Asgard. This had to be some sort of trick. Her sword lowered, just a little as she faced him. Whatever trick this was, they weren’t going to shake her with her father’s face. “Torunn.” she said, lifting her head somewhat defiantly, “My name is Torunn. Who are you?” Thor absorbed the name for a moment. Thor's Love. The name he would give a daughter. It did not surprise him, the portal from the tesseract was unpredictable and had already pulled numerous people from alternate realities and dimensions. Jane and Selvig had been very informative in this regard. Obviously, this meant in some dimension he had fathered a child, and a capable one at that. He should not be surprised, after all, since the son of Captain America had already made an appearance. If there could be anything that Thor was good at, however, it was accepting that strange and unique things happened far more often than most people might think. This could be awkward with Jane, though. "I am Thor," he answered, smiling and chuckling to himself. "That means you must be my daughter." So he was claiming to be Thor. Fine, maybe he was, but he was laughing. Probably because he had some idea what was happening here. Meanwhile she still hadn’t decided if trying to get out of here wasn’t the best option. “Thor is my father. Though I m- was with him not that long ago, and he knew who I was.” This Thor- could there actually be more than one?- hadn’t recognized her on sight. The idea of different realities was not a new concept to her, but she’d never thought she’d see one, or talk to any other version of people who she knew. “Where am I? What’s going on?” Where were her brothers? Where was Hawkeye, and Tony? More importantly, how was she getting back, because there were still a lot of machines to destroy and probably people to rescue. "You have been pulled across dimensions." Thor knew that wouldn't be enough of an explanation, but he also knew that she would need to go through the entire newcomer process. He smiled again and gestured to the people at the back of the room. "The administrators here can explain the situation better than I, but rest assured I am Thor and you are safe here, Torunn." He took a few steps off to the side in order to give her some freedom of movement, though he knew of others coming through the portal that weren't what they seemed. The next few moments would be tense as the girl made her decisions. "I'll stay with you, if you'd like," he offered, perhaps thinking that having someone nearby may make 'processing' a bit less difficult to get through. That still didn’t tell her why there were men with guns waiting. Or why he was here waiting. If she went with his story, it explained the differences she saw, but did it automatically mean she could trust him? Was he still an Avenger here? He seemed incredibly calm about all of this so far, when she would expect the news of a daughter from another dimension a bit more shocking. “Stay with me? For what?” She looked to the people he had pointed out, the administrators. “I can’t stay here. I don’t know how you brought me here, but I was in the middle of something important. I have to back. The Avengers are going to be looking for me.” With Tony they’d be able to find her, she was sure. There wasn’t much Tony couldn’t do if he tried. "If we could send you back, you have my word that we would," answered Thor, his face dropping to a soft frown. "You are not the only one through the tesseract. But I will stay with you until things are sorted for you here, then for as long as you have need of me." It warmed his heart to know that wherever she was from, she was allied with the Avengers. Things here would likely be difficult for her to adjust to and he would do his best to help. Maybe not his true daughter, she was still the daughter of a Thor and still someone from Asgard. That made her his responsibility for a number of reasons. "You are trapped here at the moment, I fear." She was trapped here, because of something called a tesseract. Had she learned of anything like that from Tony? The expression on her face fell, from distrust to fear, and then to just sad. Her sword ended up back in it’s place on her back, though she still had her eyes on the men with the guns. Maybe she wouldn’t be trapped long? “I’m stuck here. What are they going to do with me?” Better yet, was it something she was going to go along with. Because if they tried to treat her like some sort of prisoner, it wasn’t going to go over well. "For the most part, merely a quick examination by the medical staff here along with just getting to know where you're from. The information may help to get you back to your home. Then simply finding you a place to stay and perhaps employment if you are interested," responded Thor, guiding Torunn to the room's exit. "You could even work with me." The only thing she knew about employment was that her career path was pretty much decided for her back home. She was an Avenger, and past that she really didn’t know anything else. If it would get her back home, then maybe she should go along with it, but that didn’t mean she trusted them. Torunn followed him to the room’s exit, grudgingly answering any questions that went her way. She was fifteen, her parents, the devastation in her reality, how any of this was going to help them get her back she didn’t know. Though she did show interest in what Thor did. “Well, if you’re here, you’re clearly not doing the same job you have back home. Are you still an active Avenger here?” "Aye," answered Thor, crossing his arms over his chest. "And we're needed now more than ever. You are not the first to be pulled through the tesseract and definitely not the last. We have found no control over the portals and nearly anything could be pulled through. We must be ready." As long as Midgard needed a champion, Thor would be here. He nodded and reached out to put a hand on Torunn's shoulder. "The daughter of Thor would be a welcome ally in battle," he added, smiling proudly. "Now, tell me about this sword of yours. Uru?" “What about the other Avengers?” she asked, becoming much more focused, the idea that they were all alive, here in person. “Captain America? The Black Widow? Is Tony here? Any Tony?” she’d prefer her Tony, but the chance to meet a younger Tony Stark seemed like it could be interesting. Not that the idea of working with a version of her father didn’t sound like a dream come true, but she had a million and one questions, and she’d probably only think of more the longer she was stuck here. When he mentioned her sword, she reached up to touch it automatically, it was the most precious thing she owned, and she became miserable when separated from it. “Yes.” she confirmed with a nod, “Tony said it was a lot like Mjolnir, but a sword was more my mothers weapon of choice.” she dropped her hand, crossing her arms over her chest in a stance that almost mirrored how Thor had been standing only a moments ago without realizing it. “I’ve had it longer than I can remember. Since birth.” "Stark is here. He owns the buildings we are inhabiting, no less. Captain Rogers and the Black Widow, as well as Barton and Banner are also here. All of the Avengers are here. Yet you are not the first to call Stark by his first name, nor the first to be the child of an Avenger." Thor thought again of the young man known as James Rogers, who had claimed to be the son of the Captain and the Black Widow. "Still, your mother. A swordmaiden, then?" Thor's first guess was the Lady Sif, but he currently felt no inclination of romantic love to his childhood friend and ally in battle. Still, it would not surprise him to know they matched well in another dimension. “One of my brothers are here? Which one?” or was there another child out there who had parents that were Avengers? If people were arriving from different realities and dimensions, it was possible that this other person wasn’t one of her brothers. But she needed them to be. As pressing as some of the questions she had seemed, if one of her brothers, or Hawkeye was here, she had to find them. Torunn shrugged, but nodded her head, “From what I’m told. She’s the best. But I’ve never met her.” She’d heard a few stories, not much, but Tony had known some things. The last time Torunn would have been anywhere near her would have been when she was still a baby. “Sif. I heard you were friends long before you...or my version of you...married her.” she said, somewhat hopefully, wondering just how similar their realities were. Thor tapped his chin. "Verily. Sif is gifted, I would like to see how much you have learned at some point soon. But to answer your question, the one known as James arrives before you. He claims to be the son of Rogers and the Widow. I will take you to see him, perhaps he is from your world." With that, he guided his daughter out of the room and into this bright new world that was waiting for her. Things were going to be interesting for both of them, it would seem. |
