The unsettling thing about waking up on a world that he didn't recognize wasn't that he didn't know how he had got here. He was used to waking up in strange places. And, while those sorts of nights didn't usually end with medical personnel interrogating him, he didn't think that was out of the ordinary either. It was certainly better than a Stormtrooper in his face. He didn't know exactly what it was about this system that put him on his guard. Perhaps it was the ease with which they'd given him a few shots, provided him a credit card, and sent him on his way. That sort of processing meant this happened often. Perhaps it was that he didn't have the Falcon. It was back on Bespin, presumably in the hands of the Empire by now. That made him grit his teeth. He didn't like the idea of his ship in anyone's hands but his. Not that he could do anything about it. He was, as far as he could tell, stuck on this other world. It wasn't in his nature to brood on what it meant to be stuck on a planet that didn't even seem to be able to manage basic space travel. This left him with the next best option: make the best of it and explore. First, though, he had a Tower to investigate. From street level, Han thought that Potts Tower was definitely too nice for a guy like him. When he entered, he knew his hunch was right. He was fairly certain that he'd never lived in a building with a bar or any legitimate business on the first floor. Leia found herself settling into Potts Tower much easier than she had originally expected too. That wasn’t to say it wasn’t odd but it wasn’t as odd as she expected. In someways it actually reminded her of Aldeeran and while she had come to terms with what had happened to her planet, she still felt a pang of homesickness whenever she thought about it. While there had been some other Aldeeranian’s off the planet at the time of it’s destruction, there hadn’t been as many as she had hoped. She was grateful that Luke was here, even if he was much older than she remembered him being. The others that she had talked too seemed quite nice and it was good to have others from her world even if she didn’t know Mara personally. Figuring, she should probably get out and buy herself some new clothes and food - still trying to figure out what she liked in this world and what she didn’t she hadn’t bought herself much of anything last time she had gone shopping, she was making her way out of the tower when she spotted a familiar face. “Han?” she called, blinking in surprise. She had no idea he was here, no one had mentioned him so she assumed that he had just arrived. It didn’t even enter her mind that it could be someone else, it was Han. "Leia?" He stopped in the middle of the lobby, equally surprised. He hadn't expected to see a familiar face, particularly her face. The last time he had seen her she had been with Chewie, which meant… "What are you doing here? I thought -" He was walking over to her now, ignoring the uncertainty at the back of his mind. She was here. It didn't matter that they were both light years from way they should have been, or that nothing on this world made any galactic sense. "You don't how good it is to see you," he said, taking her hands into his. "Up until now, I've had the craziest day…" Leia couldn’t help the smile that blossomed on her face when it turned out to actually be Han. The two of them had, had a rocky friendship at first and even at times were prone to argue but she did love him and he loved her - despite everything that had happened including Han thinking that she was in love with Luke. That always amused her, to her Luke had always been a brother sort of figure, even if at first she might have had a crush on him it quickly dissipated. “It’s wonderful to see you too,” she said leaning up to place a kiss on his cheek. “If it was anything like the day it was when I arrived I can imagine. It isn’t every day that we get pulled to some planet that we haven’t heard of and are told that we’re fictional beings.” "Yea, that about sums it up," he said. "Think someone better rewrite their databanks if they think someone as extraordinary as me is fictional." He was more relieved to see her than he would have admitted. It had taken him a long time to admit that he had feelings for her, real feelings. Not the sort that you found at the end of every galaxy. And he wasn't about to bring them up now. It was way too soon for that sort of discussion. "So, the people on this planet know who we are?" That wasn't unexpected, really. A lot of people knew who he was now that the Empire wanted him dead, but it was the sort of information that he'd want to know before walking into another incident like the one on Bespin. "Should we be worried?" Leia couldn’t help but laugh at Han’s comment about rewriting their databanks. “No idea how but it’s true,” she said with a shrug. “They do, there’s movies about us and books too from what I’ve gathered but I haven’t looked into it all that much. I don’t think we need to be worried, everyone has been really welcoming so far,” she told him. Welcoming was probably an understatement for some of them but she wasn’t going to scare him off just at this moment. Leia was far too happy to see him. “Luke’s here, he’s much older than us though,” she warned him. “Though talking about that, when do you come from?” she asked curiously. "Yea, the medics seemed nice enough." He didn't know what to think about movies or books being written about him. He liked to think that he was pretty impressive, but that didn't mean that he didn't also like to keep a low profile. It didn't seem like he had much choice in the matter, though. "Older?" He was definitely interested now. "What do you mean older?" Suddenly, he had a horrible feeling about this. "Why do I get the impression nothing's like what it seems around here? I'm from before the bounty hunter froze me. You know, you said -" But he didn't repeat what she had said. "Look, if you've changed your mind about all that… I understand." “He’s 38,” she replied. “It’s quite a shock, he’s all grown up. So much time has passed for him…” she said with a shake of her head. “You’d be right though, nothing is the same here. Mara Jade, is from our universe too though she’s also from our future,” she told him. “It’s odd. She knows who we are but I have no idea who she is, she seems quite nice though she’s not in New York at the moment,” Leia shrugged. “Of course not,” Leia said. “I still mean it,” she replied with a smile. “Unless you have,” she teased him. “I’m from a couple of years after you,” she told him explaining. "38?" That was a surprise. "Yea, I'd say he's older." Hell, the last time he'd seen Luke had been on Hoth, which now seemed a lot longer in the past than it actually was for him. To think that that kid had gone from almost freezing to death to this. The universe sure did like its surprises. He shook his head. "Don't think I have." He was smiling, that foolish look that he always seemed to have in her presence. He still had a lot of questions, about the future, these supposed books / movies on his life, and well, about them. But he didn't want to ask them here, or now. In less than a day, it seemed, he had fallen in love, been frozen in carbonite, and carried across space and time to a universe where that was all very, very far in the past. Even for him, that was quite a lot to process. "I love you," he said, holding her closer for just a moment. He wanted to stay here, in this bizarre period of 'now' forever, but he couldn't. He let go of her hands. "Listen," he said, " I have to meet my roommate. Can't imagine she'll be anything like Chewie." He ignored the twinge of sadness. The wookiee was better off not being here. He needed to believe someone was looking after the Falcon. "But later, you're going to need to brief me on this future I apparently missed." “Just a bit,” Leia said with a grin. “I’ll let him tell you everything else though about his life. There’s a lot that will surprise you. What is the last thing you remember anyway?” she asked, leaning into his embrace, not wanting to leave though he let go of her. “I love you too,” she replied leaning up to kiss his cheek. “Of course, I’ll let you know things you need to. I’ll pull Luke along too,” she said giving him a smile. "Sounds great," he said, returning her smile. He was looking forward to seeing her and Luke again, even if they had changed. They were still his friends, and friends were important, particularly in an apparently time-altering universe such as this. |
