Who: Sam Winchester & River Tam
What: going to the aquarium!
When: Saturday morning, August 23
Where: NY Aquarium
Warnings: TBD
It was an auspicious day. An anniversary, for Caroline, which meant that Sam would be spending the evening at Fangtasia. It wasn't his favorite place in the world, but it had drinks, and he could handle the minor uncomfortableness of the... vampiric ambiance. It was interesting, by contrast, to be spending the early morning looking at entirely different types of animals, much less bloodthirsty, and not on show for sex appeal. Much more his style, in other words.
And then there was River Tam. Sam remembered enough about her fictional material to be aware of how deadly she could be, but he wasn't worried about it. Her psychic abilities didn't bother him either; it wasn't new, and he didn't have anything to hide. As for the way she spoke-- well. He'd done enough interviewing of barely coherent witnesses to make crazy talk seem... well, less crazy. Experience dealing with socially stunted angels probably helped, too.
He hadn't talked to her much the other times she'd been here, but he'd said hello, and she'd endeared herself to him almost immediately. Big hands, big heart. If there was one thing Sam liked about this place, it was how the people made him feel-- like a good person, a hero even, not a criminal, a psychopath, and an abomination. She seemed a bit lost here without her brother, and that was a sentiment he could understand. It almost made him feel... protective, which was hardly an unusual or unfamiliar feeling for him. There were people looking out for her, but there wasn't any harm in having another. Sam already considered all of the refugees a sort of extended family whether he knew them more personally or not.
"Anything in particular you want to see first?" he asked her, when they'd gotten inside.
