I would like to make a formal apology to Mr. Walter Blythe and Mr. Basil Hallward, for the mess that I made in their kitchen this morning while doing the dishes. You see, I am not yet used to these modern water faucets and while I was filling the sink I had a beautiful daydream that I was a princess living at the top of the Empire State Building. And I became so involved in it that I simply forgot, and the next thing I knew there was water EVERYWHERE. And Mr. Blythe and Mr. Hallward have been so nice to me that I only miss Marilla and Matthew a little when I talk to them.
I think they're both kindred spirits and wish that everyone could have two such fine men to take care of them, if they're ever in a situation such as mine.
So I'm very, very sorry, but I can assure you that I won't make that mistake again!
