Skye had wanted to know the Ward she thought she knew, but that was before she found out it was all a lie. That was before she found out that he'd killed Koenig. Before the realization that he'd probably killed Hand and those other agents, too or he'd stood and watched while Garrett did it. Either way, it didn't matter. Who pulled the trigger didn't matter, he was still responsible and that made her sick. It made her sick to think they'd all trusted him. Trust wasn't something Skye gave easily, but she'd never expected this from him. There was no understanding it, no explanation he could give that would make it okay.
She almost laughed when he said he needed the information on the drive. Did he really think she was going to give it to him? There was no way. Skye didn't want to die, but she wasn't going to betray SHIELD. She wasn't going to betray her team. She wasn't letting the data on that drive fall into HYDRA's hands no matter what.
"Then don't do it. Walk away. You have a choice, Ward. If it's so hard for you, that's just a sign you chose the wrong side." She didn't know if she believed him, but it didn't matter. It didn't really matter how easy or hard the things he'd done were. He'd still done them. He'd done horrible things and not in the name of helping people or protecting the innocent, but because Garrett had told him to.
"And don't give me some crap about not having a choice. You always have a choice."
