Grant understood the anger. No one really liked being lied to and someone like Skye who had been involved in SHIELD for such a brief amount of time would be used to it even less and he needed to remember that. On the other hand the anger was somewhat unjustified. He'd had a mission just like everyone at SHIELD had missions, that his had been for another side of things, well, if she understood what Garrett had done for him, she'd surely understand. However even if she would, it wasn't something he could go into now. What needed to happen now was finding the data and ensuring she was safe. He could explain later. She might not like it, but she would understand or at least it was what he was choosing to believe.
"It was the mission," he said calmly. "I had a mission, Skye. It was never about lying to you, I just did what had to be done... for the mission." He could tell that he was going to need to give her something else, assuming that she would calm down enough to listen. He really didn't want to get her further injured and couldn't she see that if he didn't get the information that Deathlok would do whatever needed to be done. The problem was that he hadn't been expecting any of these turns and a Skye that knew, was a different creature altogether. He still cared and he didn't really want to hurt her, but he knew if he didn't get the information, Garrett would, and that was the last thing Grant really wanted. Maybe the best thing was to let her simply get the anger out of her system and then approach the data again when she was calmer.
