I feel like suddenly my MO is to sound like a broken record, but here we go again. I thought you all should know, especially the ones with whom I've spoken about interviewing, that I am no longer affiliated with Vanity Fair. The reasons for this revolve entirely around you, the refugees, and the magazine's desire to compromise integrity for a form of what used to be called yellow journalism. Bottom line is, if any article about any of you appears in VF, then I didn't write it. I can't say whether those articles will hold up to the contract that was agreed upon between myself and Stark Charities. Naturally, if any of you wish to speak with them, that is your choice, but I wish you would allow me to interview your first.

As for now, I'm freelancing which really isn't a terrible gig for me right now. But I would like to publish a series of articles that would adhere to the standards already laid out for the ones I would have done for Vanity Fair. That being said, nothing will be published without your and/or Stark Charities' approval, and they will focus entirely on your life here and how you've adapted, with only enough about your backgrounds to inform the readers who you are.

All of that said, thanks to everyone who suggested neighborhoods; I'm looking at a few places in Ditmars.

Really? That's disappointing. Can I ask more specifically what they did?

The quick version was that they called me in for a meeting to tell me that they decided to take the article I was going to write and chop it into a series that focuses ONLY on the lives of the refugees before the arrived, with speculation about how they feel about the turns their lives have taken on-screen, if it's still relevant.

Granted, I do like the idea of a series of articles and I'll be doing that. But taking character biographies and publishing them as a serious article? Not gonna happen.

The media being shady. I'm so surprised.

I'll still talk to you.

All things considered, I'm not either. At times I'm acutely embarassed of my profession.

I'm really glad to hear that, Sam. Any chance you're open on Sundays? I've had a craving for chili cheese fries since last night.

You're my favorite person right now. And I'd probably kiss you if you had a Lone Star to go along with them, God.
