After Clark's face-to-face with Captain America -- with Steve -- he headed back up to his apartment. He'd texted Lois to let her know he'd be home late, and that they could take their flight then, but he hadn't heard a response. As he'd said to Steve, he figured Lois would appreciate flying late at night versus earlier, this way the city was a bit quieter. He was actually nervous about taking Lois for a flight. It wasn't that he didn't have the confidence that he could do it; it was just that this was the first time, and first times were often nerve-wracking. It had taken a while, but he'd finally figured out what he held him back and why it didn't happen immediately here. He had to come to terms with his purpose, with his powers, and with his future and its legacy. Since his immediate thought when he arrived here had been to cover up his secret (SHIELD was no help whatsoever with that), it kept its hold on him. But when he began to realize that in this world, people knew Superman (how had that name come about?), and most people knew even that Clark Kent was Superman, that anxiety over secrets began to fade. It took a while because he didn't like it at first, people knowing about him, but the more he realized that it was completely out of his control, the more at ease he began to felt. And then, well, and then he found that he could fly. Clark walked into the apartment and called out for Lois. "Did you get my text?" |
