Last Saturday was Canadian Flag Day, to mark the anniversary of the adoption of this, as the Canadian flag.

Simple, perhaps elegant. Completely unrecognisable to me when I arrived, because when I fought for my country the flag looked something like this. It struck me in the chest, I will admit. I'm not quite sure why. It's strange how the symbolic though insignificant changes can perplex one far more than engineering (social and others) leaps and bounds.
