It would seem that my primary profession will indeed allow me to earn my own keep in this world. One of the young ladies who recognized me at the museum contacted her father, who has a number of business interests in the United States, and his representatives have in turn contacted me to engage my services as a security consultant.

I must admit that I find the prospect intriguing. My efforts have been largely directed to assisting my stepfather in his own business these past few years, but there, I was obliged to maintain the illusion of being a good deal younger and less experienced than those around me. Here, that illusion will be more difficult to maintain. It may be enough of a challenge to fill the days until I return home.

[ooc: Happy Birthday Kurama.]

I had been thinking about a job, but I've been informed that I'm too young to work.

It's very annoying to live in a society where the meaning of 'adult' is so different.

May I ask how old you are?

I'll be 16 next month.

I should think that would be old enough for at least some work, though perhaps not the work to which you're accustomed.

I wouldn't know what to do. My work consisted of protecting my village, until my company and I left to help fight in the war.

Perhaps you could adapt your skills to teaching self-defense.

I'd enjoy that! Everyone should at least a basic level of self-defense!

I agree. Even in a relatively peaceful world, there are still dangers, particularly in crowded cities.

oooooooooo! I should get a job soon too! There's lots for me to do now trying all the new and fun things in New York! But soon I'll have done all of them and they won't be so new anymore. I just hope they don't get boring!

Everything in New York? Really? Even my friend Hiei could manage that in a short time.

You do like to cover a lot of ground at once, don't you? Hie is my friend, as I said, and he's rather quick.

I think so? It's a lot harder here because there aren't that many trees and none of the lizards I've seen here are big enough to travel on! And people seem to like it better when I keep my feet on the ground. Oh, I caught that part. I think that traveling quickly is the best way to travel, some of the time. Everything goes zip! And zoom too!!

I'm not sure it does for Hiei. He's a good deal faster than sound. Still, I think you might have a few things in common with him: the trees and keeping your feet off of the ground, certainly.

He's faster than sound?!?!?!!!! That sounds very [...] that doesn't sound very exciting. That's okay. If he ever comes here, I'll make noises for him! Like whoosh and maybe VROOM! Bouncing and running from branches is fun! Your friend has great taste.

It's more exciting in person, I assure you. You don't seem quite the same type of tree climber, though. He does it to get away from people. I somehow don't think you're that antisocial.
