“Nope, don't need help guys, thanks,” Charlie smiled happily as she made direct eye contact with the Radio Shack guy just behind the counter as she wandered in. Two GameStop bags were tied together and looped around her left wrist, her right hand idly playing with the strap as if she needed the extra reminder that the gems inside the bags were still there. Once the guys behind the counter seemed to realize that she knew where to go and what she wanted she felt free to look away and start ‘window shopping’ deeper into the store towards the area she actually needed. Sure, the phones and the rest of the electronics were fun to look at…and challenging that dork at the Wii station looked like it had potential to make a boring day pretty amazing…but there was a real reason for her to be here, and sadly it didn’t involve whipping gamer butt today. Instead she cooled her jets and finally stopped to inspect the Lorex LW24301 digital wireless surveillance system, an in-store only sale. She’d done her homework online first and knew what would be here and what wouldn’t—it was fun shopping online, she lived half her life online, but there were some things you just had to look at and physically touch before buying. Surveillance items were part of that package. She could update the items on her own, but she didn’t have the bodies in this world to modify…had to start somewhere. Her coding and systems were great, but if there wasn’t something to hold the material…it was just a lot of coding online that was doing her no good. Suddenly the world seemed to be gone as she allowed herself to get lost in the information she was taking in about different systems. There wasn’t a house yet, not that Dean had told her about, but once there was…she was going to be ready. Cables, cameras, recording devices, locks, mechanical doorstops…she was going to have it all. And her first job was coming up; paying for this…on top of a few little old hacks…she would be able to get everything she needed in no time with a much appreciated lack of sweat on her part. Randomly she seemed to have her attention grabbed and she moved from the surveillance items towards a box covered in fish—it was an LED projection nightlight that played underwater scenes, “Aww,” she sighed out with a slight pout as she looked the item over and weighed the options of buying it now or later. |
