Chase had to make it to work still, but that didn't mean he couldn't leave a few little surprises in the apartment for Gertrude. He'd already seen that she was back to her normal self, which really, was a relief for Chase's psyche. By 4am, he had breakfast made for her under a plastic bowl to try and preserve the heat for whenever she woke up. It wasn't anything fancy, just bacon, toast, and eggs, but he tried to be cute about it.
Once she actually got out of bed and made her way to the bathroom, the door was closed with a necktie slung over the door and held in place by the frame with a little post-it note sticking on the door that said, 'kind of miss the tie look, you're such a hipster.'
Should her next trip be to the family room, on the coffee table (still clean since he'd only been back for the evening), there was a little box with a birthday card. Inside the box was an arm band.. cuff.. bracelet... thing. Something that Chase kind of thought was her style. Maybe. He frickin' tried his ass off on this.
But that wasn't all! In the kitchen, he already had some plates lazily set up with a scribbled note saying 'hope you like lobster, be back at 2.' Perks of working in a fish market? Getting the freshest of the fresh. Had he EVER cooked a lobster before? Nope. They'd probably end up ordering Chinese, but, he tried. Either way, he wanted to make sure Gert had a really good birthday, still ever fearful that she'd never have one again.
