Maedhros was the son of the most renown linguist that Middle-earth had ever known and as such he'd inherited the skill of learning languages from his father. It was one of very few skills that Fëanor imparted on his son but one that Maedhros often took advantage of. The case held true since coming to this New York City. He'd seized upon the chance to learn the language of rabbits and has since been studiously taking instruction from Hazel. It had been an agreement that benefited both of them - for Maedhros he was learning a language he would enjoy using, and for Hazel he would keep his language fresh and alert in his now somewhat human mind.
Maedhros was a good student - patient, naturally curious and eager to learn. As such he was a fast learner and picked up the nuances of the language with relative ease. He sat now, before Hazel, with his eyes closed listening to the sounds of the earth around him and the creatures within it. He'd noted the steady pace of his own heart, the brightness of Hazel's spirit and the flutter-flicker of the hearts of the animals around them. A very faint whispering brush of Music touched his senses too, in all its beauty and majesty. But was barely on the edge of his hearing - the discord was too loud to hear it properly - it was marring the sounds beyond. A familiar thing to him, as he hadn't been able to hear the Music since his imprisonment five hundred years ago.
He was broken.
But he banished the thoughts and the sadness that came with it. Finally, he opened his eyes and regarded the Rabbit before him with kind but smoldering eyes. Maedhros's spirit burned with the fire of his heritage, which combined with the torch-like glow of the Two Trees inside him, effectively cast him as a blazoning spirit fire from the other world. His eyes reflected that natural spirit inside him, smoldering like molten coals. But they were also lit with kindness in the moment and a brief inner peace at having calmed his mind through meditation.
"Master?" he questioned quietly, laying his hands upon the earth to embrace the spirit there. He was filled with the life of the world.
