Eid celebration in Dallas on Saturday was freaking fantastic. Thank you to those who helped Samirah and I get back and forth, like, almost every day of this month. It's over now, which makes it bittersweet, because it always feels great to mingle with people of my own culture during all the years that I'm away from my actual family, and so I don't want it to end... But also, Ramadan during the month of June is killer because longer days and I GET SO HANGRY.

At least the universe decided to take people out of here after the whole month, so not to ruin the festivities. Would have preferred it added more instead of taking. Ugh.

Back in the world I was in before this one, I was staying in NYC, and NYC has a super diverse population that it didn't take very long to find a community of my own culture among the city even if my main support system isn't here. Tumbleweed... is no NYC. So, if anyone wouldn't teleporting me every once in a while over to Dallas or Houston to get that cultural feel again, I swear, I'll feed you.

I still say that if you're going to use teleportation, might as well think farther out than Texas.

Only if anyone is willing to do it!

Thankfully it seems like they're more than willing. It's a bit too tempting really, but that could just be this town and knowing that there are just better dining options so many other places.

I haven't been here long, but I feel like there are plenty of places that are better.

At this point, I'd settle for a reliably halal supermarket. I know there's the internet here at least, but it isn't the same for some things.

Food on the Internet? Unless it's grubhub... Otherwise no.

More the online supermarket sort of thing, but those are definitely better for dried goods and... doesn't help at all with the meat part. Ugh.

True true.

Although now that I mention Grubhub...this place is probably too small town for it, probably. Ugh.

Maybe? I'm not sure what the rules on Grubhub are for that. It's probably depend on how many people would want delivery from the restaurants here?

Which... might be too small considering you could probably just walk yourself over faster than delivery. And anything in the surrounding towns might be too far. Boo.

I'm glad you were able to find a community, like you said Tumbleweed doesn't really have much to offer when it comes to diversity.

It does feel like more people are leaving than arriving, it's a little scary.

What was the first thing you had when you were celebrating?

Ras malai. You have no idea how scrumptious. It's like a pillow bursting with sweet flavor.

I can definitely do food, especially if you like ethnic food!
