For those who haven't already seen me around the Mansion, I've decided to stay for the foreseeable future.

I'd like you to do some homework for me. I want two lists: one of practical things the school needs and another of things you'd like to do with the school if you had all the time, money, and staff in the world. If we're going to dream, we might as well dream big.

Also, I'm getting the sense we need some team building. Though I'm still in the middle of assessing the situation, so tell me if I'm wrong.

I'd like to be involved in the school and would very much like to hear your thoughts about how things are going with it. Strengths, weaknesses, and the like. What goals you're setting.

[Hope]
I'm not certain when, but we're going to Sephora and we're going to teach you how to care for your skin before you destroy it.

It definitely threw us all for a loop when we came back from space and everything was already completed and going in full swing. But I think it's going pretty well. Scott and I managed to get licensing for an early childhood program on the premises since that's something that the Displaced community was wanting. We got a few with young children.

We've got a theater program going with Belle over the summer. And Sam Wilson is putting together a sport's camp for the teens too.

We've lost a number of teachers in the last month or so and we'll need to look into that. Teaming up with the local high school for certain subjects does seem to be going well for now. If we get enough teachers we might not need to do that much longer, but being part of the local community hasn't been a minus for us yet.

Thank you. It seems you've been doing an admirable job.

Do the locals realize they're working with mutants? Or are we keeping them in the dark?

What do you think about in-fighting I'm picking up between at least some of the students? Is it just regular teenage nonsense or is it going to lead to trouble?

Thank you. I was one of the originals that you...was brought into doing the whole thing along with Scott. Only seemed right to keep it up.

Aside from the military personnel, no. They don't really know about the wizards and witches we got too or other people with abilities. I think that's changing a bit though. They've seemed to be figuring out things more'n they used to anyway.

Far as I know the only ones not speaking to each other are Hope and Megan.

Practically speaking we're using the JGS smart classrooms and have furniture covered. We have a spillover classroom in the barn we refurbished for the original school. An accepted Texas charter, and we're in the works on a daycare, and potentially a summer sports program for kids.

I'd like to see us
  • look into AP training and certification for spring 2018 or fall 2018.
  • implement full digitization of course materials, textbooks, and syllabi before Fall. If we wind up in another setting, we may not have the luxuries we have here.
  • More arts offerings. We have theatre with Belle and affiliate with Tumbleweed high for art and music, but I'd like us to have more independence.
  • Do we want uniforms? I feel the bring more discipline and focus to the classroom.

    Pipe dreams,
    • I'd like to see the X-men get back into a regular training schedule. But I had mutiny on hand last time.
    • I think we should offer more practical skills training, but that's complicated with a military base hovering right over our shoulders and they're cracking down more on powered mishaps.

      And yes. Desperately, But, that's a complicated history here.

Your practical wants seem fairly doable.

  • We'll need to do some research about AP because I've been out of the classroom for long enough that I am not sure what may or may not have changed for certification. Though it's Texas... so maybe the rules aren't as stringent as I'm imagining.
  • I'll look into the software and hardware necessary for digitizing materials. I suspect we can find some overachievers and let them volunteer to do the actual scanning over the summer while supervised by someone we can trust to actually keep an eye on them. Maybe give them some sort of incentive if no one volunteers? I think that can be done over the course of the summer.
  • We weren't on the best terms where I come from, but I really wish Henry were here for the arts.
  • How distracted are the students now without uniforms? Though there are some pros to uniforms, mostly about ease for parents and making it easier on students who might have financial concerns, I don't think it's necessary. My high school had a uniform and all of us managed to distract one another by rolling up skirts and wearing bright sweaters and the like. It also does go against the concept of helping them learn how to make their own decisions. If we can't trust them to dress themselves, what message are we sending to them about our confidence in how they'll utilize their powers? And then there are students with physical mutations that would make uniforms difficult or uncomfortable for them. And on top of that, I'm not changing my clothes for them so it might be a little hypocritical.

    Tell me about this mutiny.

    I need someone to explain all of the complicated history in a way that makes sense. Everyone I've spoken to so far hints about mishaps and in-fighting, something about the Phoenix, but I don't think I'm getting a full picture. And if I use my powers I'm afraid people are going to annoy me about it.

    This is what, the fifth school I've been involved in founding? We're not even going for collegiate accredidation, it's a cakewalk.

  • I think the biggest thing for AP certification is the summer training, but we couldn't get the paperwork done in time for this summer. We were in space for most of the spring semester.
  • That's a good actionable plan on the digitizing. I've been encouraging people to look for digital textbooks. But, web-based pages aren't necessarily reliable in other timelines.
  • Hank is possibly more daunting than Charles to show up here. But I really hate the note we ended it on.
  • And I'm willing to drop uniforms.

    As for the complicated history. I'll get into that. Give me a minute.
