WHO. Anyone choosing to try out for the Ellie Summer Theatre production of "Romeo and Juliet" WHERE. The Castle ballroom WHAT. Tryouts ♥ WHEN. 6 June @ 3:00 PM STATUS. Ongoing, IC/OOC
______________
Students and community members are met by Belle who greets them warmly and offers bottles of water and a calendar of events. By 3:05 PM she leads everyone to the ballroom. She encourages everyone to try sharing a monologue, but if crew do not want to, that's okay. But she thinks it important to go through each part of the process together. Therefore, tryouts will happen first.
During the tryout, students are asked to stand in front of the gathering of students and community members to deliver a memorized monologue. Belle listens carefully with a clipboard in hand, taking notes and nodding to you encouragingly. Everyone gets enthusiastic applause or supportive comments. After those interested in acting deliver their monologue, Belle then turns to the crew. Reminding all that their play is set in 15th century Verona - she further encourages their crew to think creatively about ways that they can update the story to represent their diverse backgrounds.
Then, she'll ask the crew members to share what they're interested in or what their specialties include. She also makes it clear that everyone who is interested will have hours logged toward membership in the International Thespian Society, offering fun ID cards and things like scholarships, too. She then thanks everyone profusely and indicates she looks forward to working with them on what is her very, very favourite play.
