I'm not yet used to American holidays, but it's sort of nice when you realize that you're coming up to a three-day weekend and hadn't even been expecting it. Surprise.

PRIM EVERDEEN

I've a food-related question for you.

Are you planning anything during it, Teddy?

Honestly, not really. I guess I'll play it by ear.

Well, I was thinking of having a picnic. I think that's what people do here.

I think that sounds like a great idea.

I figure eventually we'll get used to the sheer number of holidays this country has.

TEDDY
You came to the right girl, then.

It's just made even more complicated when I want to continue celebrating the holidays from my home country, too.

PRIM
There's a relief. They have very patriotic themed waffles on special at JJ's. We should probably eat some. And pretend that was a question, since that really wasn't one.

[info]primroses

What sorts of holidays are you used to that they don't have here?

TEDDY
How's this-

Teddy: Prim, would you like to eat very patriotic-themed waffles on special at JJ's, preferably at the same time and table as me?

Me: Why, yes, Teddy. I think I would love to eat very patriotic-themed waffles on special at JJ's, preferably at the same time and table as you.

Well, there's Pancake Day, which is technically tied to something religious and isn't really a holiday, but mostly it's just an excuse to eat pancakes. Mothering Sunday is just like Mother's Day here, but it's earlier on in the year. St. George's Day is about a bloke that the Muggle say defeated a dragon, though they don't actually realize that dragons are real. There are usually parades for it. Bonfire Night is a few days after Halloween. There's Boxing Day too, but it's changed over the years and is mostly for post-Christmas sales.

POSY
Brilliant. I think I'll have you speak for me more often.

If you tell me the dates, I will make every effort to help you celebrate all of them, but mostly pancake day.

TEDDY
I think you'd end up getting a bit winded!

[info]tedward

Every day should be pancake day, really.

POSY
I think you might too, if you repeat me like that.

I have a second question, this time actually phrased as a question. Do you and yours have plans for the holiday? My mum mentioned going to that cookout.

Stick with me and it could be!

TEDDY
You know, I just like making sure we're on the same page.

Not that I'm aware of yet. My people don't really celebrate this holiday, either. Our holidays were a lot fewer and further between.

I'll add that to the list of incentives.

PRIM
It does make everything very clear.

That's fair. It sounds like there is a lot of food involved for this one, which seems to be an ongoing theme.

Are there many?

TEDDY
I'm very glad I can be of help.

I've found that generally all of their holiday revolves around food in some way, shape, or form. But who are we to complain?

[info]tedward

It's pretty lengthy at this point.

PRIM
Exactly. I can't really frown at it, especially since the food tends to vary. And, really, it's not as though my holidays from home didn't focus on food either, because many certainly did.

I have a pretty lengthy list for you, too.

TEDDY
It still blows my mind that entire other countries exist. That they have different cultures is amazing to me, too. Though I suppose each of the districts had somewhat different cultures, too.

It's definitely something. I wish I'd have taken the opportunity to see more of the world, honestly. Instead I just went right into working after school.
